Give me some Fullsac advice.
« on: November 21, 2014, 09:13:16 AM »

Everyone says Steve and Alice will talk to you if you call. So I will when I'm ready to place my order, but I figured I'd try to get some info from people who are using the system. First, I'm going to say I value performance over noise. I'm not opposed to a loud exhaust, but I don't need to wake the dead with this bike. I'm really after a nice sound with some bass. The most important thing is I don't want to lose that torque. So, 2.00 inch core, or 2.25"?  Also, is anyone using some other slip-ons instead of the FS cores? If so, how's that working?

I'm running Fullsac headers with Vance & Hines Monster Ovals slip-ons. With a proper tune I don't think I gave up much, if any performance. The pipes are louder than stock, but sound great to my ear and won't irritate my neighbors or local law enforcement.

I started with the 2" cores as soon as I bought the bike as the stock sound sounded like a lawn boy. It gave me the rumble that I was looking for when on the throttle but not too loud at cruising speeds, and keeps the neighbors happy when I leave for work early. The heat was still an issue especially for my wife so I put the DX pipe on to get rid of the cat and went with the TTS tuner with Steve's map and everything is right in my world now. The bike runs much better, cooler, and sounds great. The map was spot on with no popping or other issues. I would do it again without hesitation. When I do a stage 2 with cams I will be contacting him for that upgrade also, why mess with sucess? Remember, never ride with a half sac! :2vrolijk_21:

That quote sounds like what Steve told me years ago! LOL

I put lots of miles on my touring bikes and am using the same combo since '08:
1.75 cores in CVO muffler bodies, (wrapped), x-pipe, TTS tune. SE air cleaner.
I love the sound/power with the bike (now 2014). Had some fine tuning done initially to get the bike to come off idle more smoothly. Never changed the map Steve provided with the new bike (canbus).
I have the 2" cores (tried the 2.5 cores and MUCH too loud for me) and true duals in my 113 around-town bike, and yes it's louder but, it also makes much more power!
JMHO
Gotta take a ride over there this winter just to say "howdy". Just have to find the time.

I ran the DX with the 2" cores on my last bike and was suprised and pleased at how quiet it was until you got  on the throttle. I think you'd be happy with the over all sound and performance. My new bike is getting the DX with the 2 1/4" cores, ONLY because i plan on doing cams after break in. I cant say how much louder the 2 1/4" are because i dont have the bike yet. Good luck.

I have both the Steve's X-pipe, 2.25" and 2.50" CVO baffles.

Like 90% of the members here, I am stoked with the Performance and Sound of The Fullsac set up!

Just remember, with time the baffles will open up and get a bit louder.

OK, thanks for the advice and keep it coming. Here's where I'm at. I'm tempted to do the 2.25 for a little more sound, but I need to know if the 2.0 will give a little more power on an otherwise stock motor.

Steve and Alice can answer all your questions. Give them a call, tell them your expectations and they can recommend the baffle to best suit your needs. I did this when I was planning my exhaust changes on my 11.5 CUSE6 and wound up going with their recommendation = "C" headpipe, TTS(with Fullsac Map) and the 1.75" baffles and the combination works great for me.

Can't go wrong with Fullsac.  Between my wife and I I have  used his head pipe and cores on 6 Bikes since 2009.  I always use the 2.25.

From what i've read, the 2 1/4" will give you a slightly higher torque than the 2" BUT, the 2" will give a wider torque curve. If that makes sence to you.

I had the 2" on my previous bike and went with the same for my new bike. But this time I also used the mesh inserts.  Love the added bark without being too loud.  I had the FuelMoto ceramic coated head pipe that I took from my previous bike, so can't comment on FullSac's head pipe.  Running a Power Vision tune.  Very happy with the setup.

It does. It looks like you've used both. Did you notice any diff?

I haven't ran my 2 1/4s yet. They're sitting in my shop waiting for my new 2015 sg to arrive. What i have done is a ridiculous amount of research on fullsac over the last two years. I do know that there are others on this site that have ran multiple core sizes, and they could give better "seat of the pants" advise on the slight differences of sound and power.

had the 2.25 cores since bike was new, they worked great with the stock pipe they worked better with the DX pipe 93 HP/118 TRQ stock motor, and with some TMAN enhancements to the motor, this DX pipe/2.25 core package kicks azz 124 HP/126 TRQ. plus you can get a free Tshirt if you ask  :2vrolijk_21: and my girl and i have done 600 mile days without getting a headache many many times.

I too am trying to decide between the 2" and 2.25" baffles to go inside my stock SE cans. I know the exhaust note will get louder over time & many miles of use. I dont believe it is because of the baffles opening up but because of the wrap material eventually blowing out of the cans. I have read where the material gathers at the end of the pipe and packs up there explaining the sound increase. I have took apart my 4" Rinehart cans to find all the packing material gone after 20K miles. I have to wonder how much the screen inserts will slow this down from happening? I understand it will hold the material to keep it from packing up at the end. I dont believe it will keep the material from blowing out though. When the wrapping material starts reducing will the screens be rattling inside the cans?
