I have been riding with my son and a few of his friends all about 20 years old.
They all ride Harley's (amazing) (my son rides my cvo Duece).

about 2 months ago his friend was riding home in the dark and a car pulled out in front of him with him hitting the side of the car.

He is only 20 and was medivac'd out to a trauma center with a crushed knee cap and a smashed right arm.

after a few weeks of trying to save his arm, they 
(the docs) finally decided it was time to take it off.  (not healing and infection growing)
 
his arm was taken midway between his shoulder and elbow. He now how a long road to hoe in recovery.

needless to say he will not be riding a bike again and at only 20 has some major hurdles ahead. This is the second amputee from a motorcycle accident in the last 2 years from our group.

How things change so fast after one mistake from a careless cager.

Damn.  Sorry that happened.  Best wishes for the young man and hoping he comes through this ordeal with a positive attitude, hard as that may be.

This story makes me sick at my stomach. We never know but must understand it can happen in a flash. I've had some close calls, but nothing so serious as this young man. Breaks my heart to hear of his injuries and I don't even know him. So sad..........

Hate reading this Jeff.  Hope the kid does well.  I know at my age and understanding what I've learned over the years if I lost a limb I'd be pissed but then basically say "f$%* it" and move on.  But at that age...  Man I would have raged.  I wouldn't have coped well.  Can look back at the me that was and just know it wouldn't have gone well.  All the good wishes I can muster go to the guy and those around him.  Here's to hoping he does well, copes well and moves on smartly.

That really sucks! Sorry to hear it. In the age of text messaging especially, motorcyclists have to "drive for the other guy" and treat every situation as though their surrounding vehicles cannot see them.

Life begins just outside your comfort zone and you havent lived until you push a full dress harley on a hot day up a grade because your low mile twincam fell apart, and your convinced it's to bitchen to leave it there.           Ugh pardon me but do you have any beer?
