LED accent lighting for the Engine
« on: December 01, 2014, 06:29:43 PM »

I'm sure this has been touched on many times befor ?
and after my visit to the Lone Star Rally were I saw it being done  and the vendor that was set up adding lighting to bikes,
I loved the way they eluminated the engine and other items,
I'm sure my bike shop would do it, just thought I'd throw it out to see what comments, pro or con come back

just think red accent would really make Flash pop!
visually that is!

Ugh! No!  Sorry to me it looks way to ricer.  That's just me.  Do what you want to your bike and I'll do what I like to mine.  If we all liked the same thing it would get real boring real quick.

I added white ones to my black/slate SERGU. I like the extra visibility is provides. I'll be doing white ones on my new bike over the winter also.

Check w/your state DMV or local LEO to see if they are legal and if any colors are prohibited. Some states don't allow them at all and some states restrict what colors can be used. If you are just getting them to use sitting in a parking lot that's different, but if you want them to be illuminated while riding better to find out if they are allowed before putting the money/time out for them.

I know it's not legal on cars to "roll and glow" in Texas"

I'd use it "tastefully" if I would go this route,
just a little under the tank to aluminate the engine chrome, for show and tell

one of the instructors at the HD riding academy had it way over the top on his Gold Wing!
looked like a Macey's day parade float!

Every-time I go to bike week I see these and think they look cool and tell myself it's time to install them on my bike.

Then when I get home and start looking at kits and where to place the light.  How to tuck the wires out of sight, insure that the wires are not impeding any removal of parts and out of the way of any heat.

I decide not to do the project....I could be over thinking this :nixweiss:

Good luck on you decision.

I did it on my RGC only to find out that blue is one of those restricted colors... so I was only able to turn them on when parked.

Not sure if I will do them on the RK...

Bought these at Daytona at the Iron Horse Saloon last year. They are on their second bike now. I don't know how many colors there are, you can change one at a time, or they roll as seen, slow or fast, too the beat of the stereo or engine reving, different flash options, all go to red when the brakes are applied. Pretty nice set of lights. And are completely hidden. You'd have to know what you are looking for to find them or the wires.

I like them, have done all my last bikes, friends bikes and my latest SE Limited. I use to install the Boogey lights brand but for diff reasons I changed to Custom Dynamics magic flex lights.  Just take your time, be neat, use plenty of zip ties and enjoy.
