Hey,  When it comes to visual (video) for example,  I'm into the High Def TVs and have two or three and love them.  But with my 2014 StreetGlide Special and considering a speaker/amp update.............I was shocked by the prices.

My hearing (at age 72) is still excellent,  and I have come to enjoy listening to "oldies" via my thumb drive and/or Pandora via my cell phone.  So,  with these ongoing email "specials" that I have continued to get from J&M,  I thought I would check out the potential to "upgrade" my fairing speakers and maybe also my "stock amp".

I had no interest what so ever in speakers in (lowers) my bike doesn't have lowers...........nor did I have any desire to carve a hole in the lids of my saddle bags and have rear speakers either.

So,  I called J&M and asked about just the 6 (1/2) speaker upgrades and the amp upgrade and he quoted me something like $900   I think this was before the (20%) offered discount..........................Hello............That price made me realize that I was fully capable of understanding each and every word of every "tune" that I could play already.............So,  end of story.

One of the reasons I like listening to the oldies when riding is because the sound is flat - lack of dynamic range, and that makes it easier to hear at highway speeds.

I don't ever again seeing me spend 2K on sound systems for a bike or in a vehicle.

"J&M" and "upgrade" should not be used in the same sentence unless you are trying to show an example of complete opposites.

I gotta say that though I never would have thought it before I got this bike (First bike with a stereo system) I completely enjoy the "tunes" and the more I upgraded, the more I enjoyed them. My current setup is so clear that I can actually listen to a football game on the freeway and hear every word. That did cost quite a bit of money though but completely worth it to me. Whatever floats your boat..

I"m with you scooter. Let me ask you this, while in Bluetooth mode and underway, do you detect a wash out of the sound? Sorta like it's going in and out? A lot of the late 14's and most all the 15's are having this issue.

Well,  yah I have noticed that on occassion but I figured it was just the Bluetooth signal fading in and out,  not really a problem with the receiver itself.

On my '09 SERG that was stock, I had issues hearing my tunes at anything above 60 mph.

I didn't want to go the expensive route an add a bunch of electronics, did that in a couple streetrods and you get to a point that you just keep throwing more money into it.  So I called J&M also and I opted for their 7.25" speaker upgrade.  This was before they came out with their Rokker speakers.

I installed the 7.25" with their adapter and also installed the peel and stick foam they supplied.  With just the upgrade in the speakers I can now hear my tunes well over 80 mph and that's a BIG improvement for just a couple hundred dollars.  If memory serves me correctly, it was around $215 for the speaker kit.

I know I could get even more from an amp or adding lowers and another two speakers, but for what my wife and I do, this was well worth the money and took me all of about an hour to do the complete install.
