Gauge Lights
« on: December 27, 2006, 09:36:31 AM »

Happy Holiday All!
I have a fellow rider (non-CVO Ultra) who is interested in switching his gauge lights out for red like the ones we all have on our SEEG.  I pulled my fairing a few weeks ago to install a Turn-Trapper antenna and noticed something odd.  All of the 2 inch guages have seperate plugs to replace the bulb, but the speedometer and tach do not.  How do you replace the bulb in those two gauges?.....or can you replace them?
Thanks

Scrrem,

Unfortunately, you can't replace the lights in the speedo and tach.  Those gauges use LED lighting, and if the lighting fails you replace the gauge.  Of course, an enterprising (and brave) soul could possibly take the gauges apart and find a way, but I doubt it would be worth the effort and there is a real possibility of screwing up the gauge.

I noticed the same thing when I was inside my fairing. I remember reading this post - Speedometer/Tach Light Bulb Color Replacements
that said on the SEEG that the bulbs couldn't be replaced and if they went bad the entire gauge would need to be replaced.
