Need advice CVO Limited Exhaust
« on: December 05, 2014, 09:52:33 AM »

My 2015 CVO Limited has stalled 3 different times since I got it early October and the dealer finds nothing. Twice it stalled while rolling with clutch disengaged and at idle engine simply quits but restarts easily, the third time was sitting at stop sign and rolled throttle a bit backfired through breather and quit, restarted just fine. Fuel mileage stinks as it's consistently ~32.5 mpg. Dealer says if it does it again to bring it in and they will get MOCO on the phone and go from there.

I just ordered the complete Fullsac system and TTS, should I wait to install and map it or do you guys think the tune would cure it?

Advice greatly appreciated.

If you do anything to the bike, the MOCO will insist you set it back to stock before they attempt any repairs.  I would highly advise that you get any concerns resolved prior to performing after-market modifications.

X2-Get the problem fixed before doing any aftermarket upgrades.  Keep the upgrades out of the equation of getting this fixed.  Let us know what they find out.  Good luck!

Abolutely resolve the issue before you mod anything.  This is not a simple perfomance issue that you should try to fix with exhaust / tuner / etc.  Have they checked the plugs to check rich / lean conditions?  You ever smell gas when it stalls?  Possibly dumping too much fuel and flooding out? Have they tried flashing the ECM?  Just throwing out ideas as I'm just a home mechanic myself.  Good luck. Hope you get it all sorted out.

Dealer has only checked for codes after 1st time and 3rd time, they did the 1k service between the 2nd and 3rd time but could not replicate the problem. Heck I can't even replicate it. It happened ~300 miles, ~700 miles and ~1400 miles it did not happen when I really expected it might and that was at the Lone Star Rally riding down the seawall stopping at all of the traffic lights and such.

Have not smelled gas at stalls. Tech did not mention flashing ECM so I doubt that he did.

It's gonna be hard when that big ole box shows up next week to not tinker but it makes sense to get it figured out first.

While it's not the answer to a possible problem, you can install your parts as the TTS will allow you to put the stock tune back into the ECM and the dealer will never know about it as long as you put it back prior to taking it in .

That janitor at TTS is sneaky...

I know this is going get a lot of laughs or buti had a 2011 road glide cvo just traded in with 50,000 miles on it it bucked stumbled and coughed sometimes not all time never could get it to do it for dealer, they never did anything, ran into. Old-timer who told me to try running marvel mystery oil with the gas mix as they recommed, fixed it. I could quit using it and it would go back to acting up.
