decel chain or valve noise when cold
« on: December 09, 2014, 08:51:33 AM »

I have a 2007 FLHRSE3. When the bike is cold, it makes a chain or valve like noise while decelerating in gear. I replaced cam chain tensioners, cam bearings, and hydraulic lifters and it still makes that noise to my surprise.Once the bike is warmed up the noise goes away.It is however getting worse and taking longer to go away during warm up

Just a wild guess without knowing more details:  Maybe the primary chain tensioner is shot or loose and the chain is slapping the top of the inner primary on decel???  Check the less than faithful compensator too!  Maybe as the drive train heats up and the chain tightens is removes enough slack to eliminate the noise. Maybe!
