Garage door opener
« on: December 11, 2014, 09:34:16 PM »

Did Harley quit putting a garage door opener on the CVO bikes?  In the process of buying a CVO Limited and it looks like you don't get the garage door opener any more.

2014 had one. The bike already has the module installed and you have to plug in and program the garage portion. Takes two people to do it unless you have really long arms or can get the bike close to the part you plug into the outlet.

Dealer couldn't find that there was one, they're going to remove the transmitter from the old bike and put it on the new one.  Just thought it odd that they would quit that program.  Well not really.

Been riding  for 35 years, and only ever owned Harley and I had said that the next bike I bought would not be a Harley but here I am buying another one.  Oh well.

If you are buying a US spec bike, then yes indeed it comes standard with the garage door opener.  The transmitter is installed by Harley at the assembly plant, and the receiver comes in a box with the other loose items.

It definitely has the garage door opener, operated by the flash to pass button on your CVO Limited. Even if they somehow can't find the receiver, the transmitter, as already stated by grc, is installed at the factory. They had placed my receiver in the pouch in the TP.

I am not always sure of some dealers, as I found my '15 CVO with the wrong passenger backrest installed on it, and when I ask why they had put the wrong one on, the salesman told me they had two different ones available. I knew this was not the case, and when walking into the dealership, I noticed my backrest on an Ultra, and pointed it out. He still had no clue, but it was resolved finally, anyway, make sure they check with the service department, since they put the bike together, or at least the parts that had to be put on.

X2 on the back rest my 14 Cvo limited also came with the incorrect backrest, it came with the standard ultra one without the logo and stitching to match, dealer had not noticed either, had it switched over for me, beats me the amount staff across alot of dealerships that really don't know there products, they only stare at them every day and go to countless dealer meetings! My 10year old knows more than them, I kid you not!.
What made me spit is the service manager tried to "diss" it and say "well it's only a badge on it that makes it different" as if I should just accept it. I am sure if it was he who spent £30k on any thing he would want it to be right,  duly I told him so.

2013 rgc cvo doesn't come with garage kit. I myself and the dealer searched bike with faring off. Moco said only the ultras came with. Not the custom.

That is correct.  The same is true on the Electra Glide CVO's, with the garage door opener being standard on the Ultra's (Limited's), but not on the Street Glides.  One of those strange product decisions, and only the folks making that decision have a clue why they did it that way.  Maybe they think the folks with the "sportier styled" models don't have a garage?

Gonna HiJack for a second. But first Yes these come with a Garage door opener. The receiver should be in the tourpack wrapped in red bubblewrap.
Now, could someone show me what the CVO backrest looks like on the 15s? is it supposed to have special stitching? Mine does not.

Not a real clear picture I can try and get a better one once the bike gets here.  By the way they did find the transmitter when they went to put the one of off the old bike on the new one so they are ordering me a new receiver as well.  Be nice to have a spare I guess.
