Timing marks
« on: December 14, 2014, 04:27:41 PM »

Hello.

Anyone point me to a thread that shows the valve timing procedure for a standard 1450 please. My pal is going to inspect his spring tensioners, he tells me that in his manual the way to re-time is not clear.

Thanks' in advance

The HD service manuals have good pics that show the procedure fairly well.  Cam to cam timing shouldn't matter for changing shoes.  Pinion to cam timing is lining up the dots with each other and the line on the cam plate. They only fit one way on cam and pinion.

Just remember that the rear cylinder is #1. If you line up the marks prior to disassembly  & you don't rotate the engine, you will bw fine.

Thank you for the responses.

We eventually found what we were looking for in the manual. We did not realise the manual cover the valve timing in more than one section.
