Gas Mileage
« on: December 28, 2006, 09:26:47 AM »

I realize the subjects of gas mileage and performance aren't typically used in the same room but I'm wondering if anyone else with the SE3 is experiencing what I am.  My '04 RKC would routinely get between 45 and 50 mpg.  It ran like crap but it got good gas mileage.  My new SERK is getting 32 mpg.  Is that what others are finding?  I'm hoping getting it to breathe better will help and I'm sure once I can actually hear the exhaust, I'll do a better job of shifting that may also help. I’m getting considerably better mileage, on normal days I get mid 40’s and on days when I’m bucking a 20-knot headwind I get upper 30’s.  Engine is still 100% stock and I have a Clearview windshield attached.  Good luck solving your consumption problem.

rbmntx,

My experience has been similar to FLHRSE3.  I am still 100% stock, and I am getting around 40-45 mpg depending on how much traffic I'm in.  I am also running a full size windshield.

Unfortunatly, I don't have any suggestion on why your mileage is so much worse.  Hopefully, you haven't gotten a tank of bad gas.

Later,

I'm set up just like you two.  Stock so far, standard Road King clear windshield. I don't think it would be bad gas because I've gotten gas from three different stations in two different states.  It's encouraging to know that my experience isn't the norm, maybe there is a cure.  I've only put about 200 miles on it so far so maybe when it's gets more broken in it will improve too.
