Ohlins
« on: December 15, 2014, 02:48:23 PM »

Does anyone know how a Ohlins 3-3 with the 12 3/4" inch length would do on the RGC CVO 2012?  I know they come with a 12" shock stock, but I am going to get a good deal on some 12 3/4"

I can't answer your question a out the 3-3, but I'll probably be installing some Ohlins 6 soon. What did you do to the front end, and how do you like it?

I have a buddy who just purchased a used 2010 CVO Ultra. It has Ohlins on the rear. He rode the bike for the first time yesterday and text me when he got home. He said the ride was daylight to dark compared to stock. Got me to wondering what others are running and their opinions. I have considered in the past upgrading mine but I trade every year and just never did.
What do you have and input appreciated....?

Joe,
The 12 3/4 Ohlins should be great!
There are folks going (from stock 12") to 13" for the added travel and ground clearance...

Yes, I am pretty sure I read this before.  I was concerned about messing up the geometry of the bike.

I put the Ohlins up front, I like them over stock and the Monotubes.  My opinion over the Monotubes is somewhat biased though, I wound up with a defective set of monotube.  I am sure they never gave proper performance.

Have a 12 3/4 on mine, ride height stays close to stock when you factor in sag. The ride quality is so much better than stock; probably the best you'll get from about 3 inches of suspension travel.

I guess this is no longer an option.  The dirtbag sold them right out from under me.  I dont get some people.  We had been emailing each other several times, told him I wanted to buy them and send me a paypal invoice.  He did about 2 hours later, while I was asleep.  He said he moved on because I never responded to the paypal invoice.  Some folks sleep and work -

Ohlins are the best I have used on the rear so far of several brands.

The 09 and newer CVO road glides, street glides and road kings use a 1 inch lower rear at 12 inch eye to eye length.  Fork is the same height is the same on all the 09 and newer.

So a 13 inch will work on any CVO touring bike.

I was going to put 12 Ohlins on my 15 CVO RG Ultra but the Ohlin factory tech explained many reasons the 13 were better.  He went so far as to say on my 13 CVO Road King, he would go up to the 13 for better handling in the curves, better turn in and so on due to the geometry.

Hello, I just had these installed on my 09 screaming eagle road glide yesterday, we did the front and rears.. I'm waiting on paint now (should be done this week)(stretched bags, Yaffe fender) and I'll let everyone know how it handles. Bike has a 21' front and a 16' rear (went from an 18' rear) I ride hard in the corners and motor is a 117  built by Trask. 128hp/118 Tqe
