Red Jester finds its way home
« on: December 28, 2006, 10:57:17 AM »

The new bike is here. Got it home Friday and left town on Saturday. Returned with nasty headcold on Tuesday and got to work on it Wednesday.

Total mileage: 8.5 miles.

So far...
Tour-pak -- Gone
Amplifier & Harness -- Gone
Stock Seat -- Gone
Stock Mufflers -- Gone
Stock Shocks -- Gone
GPS -- Gone
Power Commander -- Installed

If it warms up today, I will get out to raise the mileage a bit.

Here are a couple pics of the patient on the operating table.

Cheers!

That's the way to do it.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] Things are taking shape...good job.  Is that the new PC III that supports the O2 sensors, that I've been hearing is/will be coming out?  Or, did you put the O2 eliminators in?

This is the 812-511 that uses the eliminators.  I wasn't aware of anything coming out that uses the sensors. Do you have any information you can post?

Cheers!

It's looking really good Chief. Be sure and post more pictures as you get it all back together. I know you'll enjoy it without the amp and tour pak as much as I do mine.

Looks great! (even with the socks)..   :)   You have a plan and are going with it-that's good to know.  Nice to see a picture of a PC installed, didn't know it was that large.  Good luck and enjoy.

What V&H mufflers are they?  How do they sound?

I will say, that getting the PC installed with its harness was tougher than I thought it was going to be.  I finally got it by removing the ECM caddy and cutting off some from the front (right) end just so I could have more room to work with the stock ECM harness. I also cut off a couple of plastic "fingers" that hold one of the unused connectors.  Once the extra stuff was removed, it went in nicely.

As for the mufflers, they are V&H Classic Slip-ons that I liberated from my '99 FLHTC. I haven't had it out on the road yet, but in the shop, they sound MUCH better than the stock mufflers.

Cheers!

Chief,

Is that the mounting method recommended by the PC folks for an '07?  The reason I ask is that on my '05 it was a piece of cake.  I used mounting tape with velcro on the bottom of the battery tray and on the connector, and tucked the OEM connector/PC connector under the battery tray.  The actual PC is tie strapped to the stock ECM, just like your installation.  I was just wondering if something changed to eliminate the space under the battery tray on the new bikes. ???

Thanks Hoist.

Just got back from the first putt. I'm impressed, impressed that I was able to stay out of it, and with the bike itself.  The 6-speed is beautiful, shifts like buttah. Still getting used to not having a choke to pull at start, but I'll quickly forget I ever had to do that.

I do need a taller windshield tho.

Here area couple of pics of the bike without the tour pak.

Jerry,

The space is still there, but this method is the one called out by the instructions.  I tried to find another way, but in the end, this one seemed to work the best.  Once the material was removed from the ECM caddy, it went in really nice.

Cheers!

Damn Chief. That looks great! How'd it feel with the PC in compared to the maiden voyage? The heat now? Oh, go out and ride and enjoy it while the weather's good. Plenty of time to talk details (15 days, I mean ::) )  ;)  Hoist!  8-)
