Unfortunately, I don't have any hard evidence that I can post.  I've seen some mention of a new PC III for '07 that will use the O2 sensors.  My dealer also has stated the same thing, but no idea as to if/when it will happen.  That was the main reason I went with the SERT over the PCIII, I wanted the O2 sensors functional.  In fact my dealer now isn't recommending and wouldn't do a PCIII for that very reason on any HD's equipped with the O2 sensors.   Sorry I couldn't give you more verifyable information.

Thanks for the info.  I haven't heard of that yet, but would be interested to find out if they are developing a true auto-tuning PC, like the Daytona Twin-Tek and the Zippers Auto-Tune.

I'll keep my eyes open for more.

Hey chief , I see you inastalled the V@H classic mufflers. I just installed a set of them myself a few weeks ago and really like them.They are definitely louder than the stock mufflers but not obnoxious.The wife and I went for a 100 mile ride Xmas eve and they didn't bother her at all.

These pipes were pilfered from my poor '99 that is being stripped of all kinds of goodies while I make up my mind what to put on the new one.  These pipes actually have about 40,000 miles on them and have been repacked twice.  They're showing signs of wear, but are tons better than the stock units.

My project is comng along.  I am ready for some warmer weather to go and ride!!  Other then some chrome goodies to install, I am ready to go.  I have a seat on the way from AK.  I am anxious to give the Thundermax/AutoTune a test spin.

That would be great if they did a setup like that.  What will probably happen, just my thoughts, is that they'll reflash the PCIII to accept the O2 sensors and create new maps to match the current ones except they will not state with O2 elinators installed.    Just my speculation on that.   That would seem to be the quickest (and cheaper) way to go.

Regarding the O2 sensors......their function is to make a "close loop" EFI circuit. What this means is that the ECM will adjust/modify the map depending on the input from the O2 sensors. This is what guarantees a proper air/fuel mixture during the "burn".

Why would you want a close loop system? Well, regardless of how well you adjust your PC or your Race Tuner, Oxygen content in the air will change due to temperature and altitude. Also, air intake into the combustion chamber could change depending on the bike speed if you are using certain types of air filter mount.

Also, pipes with O2 sensors have been available forsome time know as well as certain devices similar to the PC.

So, if you are starting a trip in Florida and ending in the Rockies, the O2 sensor equiped bike will perform better that the one w/o an O2 sensor.

Also consider, that your bike could go lean w/o an O2 sensor and this will contribute to increase in temperature.

Over the years I have ran many bikes w/o O2 sensors......and they did fine.......I have had one bike with O2 sensor and the 07 SE will be teh second one.

Luis thanks for the "plain language" explanation of what the O2 sensors do.  My dealer gave me an "over my head" explanation as to why they wouldn't put a PCIII on my bike because it doesn't use the O2 sensors. Now I understand their reluctance to do that.

You would only need the O2 sensors if they're an active part of the system they're working in. A PC does not use them. Since the PC is fooling the ECM and actually telling the system what to do behind it's back and doesn't use O2 sensors for this, the O2 sensors play no role. Therefore O2 eliminators are provided to also fool the ECM into thinking everything in it's little world is normal. A system with O2 sensors can only adjust within the range it's allowed to. There are different closed-loop systems.You need a much more sophisticated closed-loop system than stock to have the closed-loop work properly. And you can not change the parameters of the stock closed-loop system. You can reprogram the ECM with a Race Tuner to get the map right (and maybe void your 2 Year Warranty). The dealer's not gonna tell you that you can eliminate your O2 sensors. If you use the dealer and like him, put his recommended components in. Go by your tuner's advice. That is if he knows what the hell he's doing. So, a system that uses the O2 sensors requires them. A system that doesn't use them doesn't. Hey gang, how'd I do? I learned it all here! Hoist!  8-)
