Black Dog,
I had a company here in the Dallas area remove the old paint on the floor (builder painted it prior to us buying it

) It took 3 days to get the old paint off.
The garage is approximately 950 sq. feet. After the old paint was removed, the floor was cleaned and etched. Then the epoxy was applied. Here is a description from their website...

Granite Style Epoxy Flooring Options
Our granite style epoxy flooring is comprised of multi-colored vinyl chips embedded in pigmented epoxy and sealed with two coats of extremely durable polyurethane.
Colored vinyl chips can be blended together in unlimited combinations to achieve the look you desire. The seamless surface lends itself to easy maintenance, as it is resistant to staining and abrasion."
...The floor install took only a day and a half. I am thrilled how it turned out. It really looked bad before with the paint peeling up in all the hot spots from the tires.
