That's funny (and good PR from someone).  I can remember a road that Brian (103) and Mike White led a small group of us through one of the early years at MV that was better (and a heluva lot less busy) than the Dragon.  Also hit a few others around the US I personally liked a lot better too.  Have seen the Stelvio Pass road in Italy and the Transfăgărășan. Even suggesting the Dragon and they are in the same ballpark is silly.  Looking at the pics of some of the others in that article it seems the Dragon has some stiff competition.

Everyone has their own favorites though.  So it's not like I'm judging for anyone else.  May also be difference in tastes; the kind of road one likes better.  I'd take, for example, the best stretch of the ride over Lolo Pass that lasts 60 or 70 miles over the short ride on the Dragon every day of the week.  Parts of it are nasty but a lot is less so.  A little more sweeping business but it just keeps going and going and its gorgeous.  Or... well, this could start something and I'm too tired to type all night when I start remembering more and more good stuff.

So someone else go next.  What's been your favorites?

Highway 123 in Arkansas, the section northeast of highway 7. Some people call it the Arkansas dragon. Did not see a single other vehicle except for some locals parked at a swimming hole. The closest thing to traffic was a black bear running along the shoulder. The section southwest of 7 was cool also, not as technical but it featured a one lane bridge.

Oh yeah, nice choice.  That one is close enough to me I sometimes forget it.  Kind of one of the "local rides" that can do most any weekend feel inclined.  Good choice though.  That's a fun ride.

Can't say that any road with a speed limit of 35 mph is wild. Off course there are still lots of accidents on this road because of driver / rider inabilities.

Ebbetts Pass in northern California is a sweet ride and no traffic.

Living in N.C., Yea been there done that. It's more fun during the week (less traffic/crouch rockets). But I've got roads here in the state that I would rank higher and no Tennesse Highway patrol to f@*k with you. :nixweiss:

We put the bike on the Auto-Train out of Sanford, Fl to Lorton, Va. a few years ago. We rode on up to Gettysburg for the weekend and then took ten days to ride back down to Florida. One of my buddies that rode with us was from Kentucky and knew the area well. By the time we got down to the Dragon we had ridden so many roads like it that it was really anti-climatic. We are gonna do the train again soon but take different roads back down, it's the journey!

When my wife got her first bike she aspired to ride the Dragon so I took her on some trainer roads to develop her skills in the twisties. After her first ride we stopped at the bottom and asked reach other WTF????? The trainer roads were a lot more challenging. This US 129 is famous by by no means the curviest or most difficult to ride.

Hey Redben59 I have always thought the NC State police were worse than our TN troopers.??? I guess I just fear them all because I am sure to be breaking to many speed laws. :D

This is true but it's such a small and technical road that it's hard to ride quickly or even "spirited". Beautiful scenery and sometimes a tight one lane road, but very memorable.

Still want to ride the tail just to say I done it. Also want to ride down in ArKANSAS, hear there are some really twisties down there. The only thing we have around the Nebraska/Iowa boarder is the Loess Hills Highway. It's beautiful but not exciting in the slightest.
