Wrecked the SEEG on August 31st and finally getting around to starting the rebuild. Replacing the front fairing, front fender and saddle bags along with several smaller items like the crash bar and floor board mounts. So last night I pulled the inner fairing and found more damage including both speakers, the speaker support brackets and the fairing brackets. Then found the handlebars were cracked in two places next to the clamps. It appears to have been that way for a while since there is rust in the cracks. I always thought the handlebars vibrated an excessive amount but I decided it was the cams in the 103 that caused it. Glad I found it now instead of finding out out the hard way.
So now, after talking to the painter and getting good news there, I have decided to dig a little deeper into the savings account and add some more goodies to the old scooter. The handlebar issue means new mini-apes, dead speakers means new speakers, stereo and amp (hey, you really ought to do it all at once, right?), 4" dropped bags and rear fender and maybe a few more things before my accountant says stop.
This is gonna be fun. A lot of work....but fun too.
