I can say from experience that 07 and early 08 had some big 110" engine issues. Really the crank run out was the only one that would scare me. Changed the frame in 09 also.

I would pass on the 07, first year of the 110's. The convertible's are beatiful bike's, but I still would look at touring frame bikes. Just for comfort on your rides. IMHO. There are good deals on low mileage CVO's, I've lucked into a couple over the past couple of years. Good luck on your search.  :apple:

I would personally never buy an '07 CVO Touring bike, because of the issues with the then-new 110" engine. There are many horror stories about those. And, you don't get the new frame, etc., that was made in 2009.

The '10 Softail CVO is a completely different bike.... The 110" B engine is a balanced engine for the hard-mounted Softails, and the frame is completely different from a Touring bike. You can't really even compare the two bikes. The Softail is a very light, nimble bike (in Harley terms), while the Road King is a much larger, more comfortable bike for long-distance riding.

If you are puttering around town, or do mostly short distance trips, then the 2010 Convertible is a wonderfully fun bike to ride. But, if you are going to do long distance touring (more than 200-300 miles per day), a real touring bike such as a Road King, etc., is a far better choice. However, a 2007 touring bike is not going to get you the 2009 and later frame changes, and the many other changes, that were made on the touring bikes in 2009.

In my opinion, they are asking for too much for that 2007 CVO Road King. Frankly, I'd continue to look around...

Full Disclosure: I am a Touring guy, not a Softail guy!

Some thoughts from my experience with the FLSTSE aka cvo convertible in no peticular order. I have a 2012 CVO Convertible. 2010 was the first year for the cvo convertible. I believe there were issues with the windshield on the 2010 creating too much wind turbulence therefore side panels were added and I believe the height was increased an inch or so for the 2012. Another issue is low ground clearance. If entering a turn a little aggressive you will scrape. I have rode to Loconia, NH, and Bar Harbor, Maine from Pittsburgh, PA. I had no issues with comfort but I would think a touring model would be more comfy especially riding two up. Not sure if the 2010 has it but I also enjoy the cruise control. I will be riding it to Sturgis 2015 this year. I am only 5'-10"/200lbs....yeah your right, I could stand to lose a couple pounds. On short trips with a passenger there was not any issues. Also as mentioned it comes with the 110b engine which is very smooth. Also on the 2012 is a Sumo 660 gps unit with mp3 player. I love the way it handles and sitting lower in the saddle as compared to atop a touring model...note my height of only 5'-10". Another great feature is how the saddle bags, rear seat and sissy bar and windshield can be removed easily, quickly and without any tools. I really enjoy the cvo convertible, its a very versatile motorcycle being able to switch from a reliable touring bike to a fun sharp looking cruiser. I normally ride around town with only the windshield keeping the bike as basic as possible...it will giddy-up pretty good.

Another thing to consider and a big differance.  Riding the curves the softtail will drag the floor boards in a curve long before a road king or other touring bike.

I hit the floorboards with in a mile of leaving my house on my Fatboy softtail, but rarely hit on my road king or road glide.

My wife has the same issue, she drags her floor boards all the time on her Heritage softtail but rarely drags on her road glide.

If she is on her road glide she stays with me in the curves, if she is on her heritage she can not keep up in the curves due to dragging the boards and limited lean angle.

No rush other than its the best time of year to buy one. We live in the Fort Collins area on the front range. We have snow now but in a week or so it coulod be riding weather again very easily...

Dave

Is John's Harley Davidson still the dealer in Fort Collins? They treated me great in 1975 and again in 1978 on my way to Estes Park. (Those Shovelheads needed TLC even when new LOL)

My wife started on a Deluxe and dragged all the time but on the SG she is a cornering machine. We have a friend that follows us a bit and he drags continually and with the overweight wife on it is every curve. Softtials look cool but they do not perform equal to the touring frames. I would not have a touring bike older than '09 because of the changes made on the frame at that time.

The price seems high for the 2007.  About 3-4 years ago a friend sold their 2007 CVO-RK for around $17k and it had approx 6k miles on it.  It was the blue color which was the best (IMO) of the colors offered on the bike that year.
