I haven't posted much on CVOHarley lately, but I am really happy to have this classy, relatively-drama-free forum to read and post on. Thanks to Neal and all of our wonderful mods here for what is unquestionably the BEST Harley forum on the entire Net. You guys just ROCK!

Many here may not know of this, but there was a HUGE backlash on another Harley forum over the booting-off of a highly-respected member in their Audio forum today. In response, a number of members there have resigned and gone to yet another Harley forum, in their displeasure.

I am so glad that we do not experience these kinds of commercially-motivated events here. But it's only because of the people who run this non-commercial forum... Neal and his mods. Thanks, guys!

Going over to the contributions link now to make my (albeit late) contribution for this year.

Where have you been?
You presence is always enjoyed.
I figure you been out waxing the Badger to get it as shiny as "any" of my bikes.

 

It's going to be 1* in Maggie Valley tonight and 10* in Matthews tonight so it's a little chilly to ride.
We are going to do a little pick up ride in March, so far we have NC, Virginia, Tenn, Alabama represented.
We need a Georgia member.

I'll be around more. I went through some general emotional funkiness last year, and was actually muddling with the idea of selling the bike and moving on to other (safer) things, after my wife had a scary encounter on her little Ninja 650 last summer, with an SUV coming around a tight corner on a highway in the mountains, at far too high of a speed, just as she was pulling out from a side road. She slammed on her brakes and let the bike fall, and the SUV roared by only a few feet away. The jerk didn't ever even slow down!

That's why I cancelled out of MV14... I was too messed up to even think about riding at that point. I didn't share it with anyone here except Chip... and thankfully he and my other riding friends made me realize what motorcycling - specifically Harley riding - really means to me. But the horrible thought of having to live the rest of my life without my awesome wife really messed with my mind for awhile. She may stop riding herself... I don't know. She hasn't been on her bike since that incident.

One of my best buds put the pressure on me to ride down to PCB for the Thunder Beach rally with him and some other friends a week after MV14, and I'm glad I got back on the bike. I needed the break, and I REALLY needed the saddle time!

I was wondering what happened to ya, Ken.  Glad to see you back but so sorry about the incident your wife experienced this past Summer.  Not going into details but I had a similar experience in 1999 and took a couple years off motorcycling because of it.  When something like that happens even as a near miss, it certainly effects you and can take some time to get over.

Just glad it have you back here, brother.

Oh and I agree with the best forum on the web comments and add a Hurrumph
