Satellite Radio Upgrade 2012 Street Glide CVO
« on: January 11, 2015, 03:56:19 PM »

Hello. I found my way to this site while researching adding satellite radio to my Glide. I came across a forum where a guy had trouble getting his to work on his CVO even after going to HD dealers in SFO and SJC. One guy suggested going to cvoharley.com so I signed up today. Couldn't find any answers. I was going buy it Las Vegas Harley and have them do the install. Anyone have any advice or recommendations?
And I also read about FM Radio reception being awful on the CVO which mine is as well?
BTW I won the LV Harley Frosty Balls Poker Run yesterday $3000 certificate so looking for other cool upgrades
Cheers

What several of us have done to get satellite radio on our SESGs is to get the RoadTech 665 GPS, which has the XM satellite radio built in. The MoCo says this is not supported, but a simple wiring harness enhancement makes it work with the NIM. The XM part is easy... Just plug the input into the front aux jack, or spring for having a rear aux jack installed by Iron Cross, so you don't have to run a wire to the front aux jack.

There is an excellent sticky in this forum by Rex LeGalley about installing the RT 665 and the NIM. His instructions work perfectly.

If you are asking about the H-D XM unit, I'm afraid I can't help, as I have no experience with it.

When I had my 12 SESG, I made my own harness as well.  Got the info from researching on this forum.  Don't have it anymore as I no longer have that bike (or the computer that I had the info stored on).  Anyway, I thought that HD now has a harness that works with the 12 SESG.  Regarding FM, it was as if I didn't have it on the SG.  Although I don't use FM that much, it comes in pretty good on my 14 CVO Limited.

Welcome to the site. That $3000 won't last long.
