Just for grins make sure the bolts clamping the halves together are tight. Year and a half or so ago someone pulled in here during a cross country trip with a fluid leak. Didn't expect that to be the problem but in his fortunately it was.
You know Don, that thought occurred to me after I posted this thread earlier. I put an Allen wrench on the left side caliper, and lo and behold, I was able to tighten EACH of the three bolts about 1/4 turn! The leaking has stopped, for now. I really didn't expect the caliper bolts to loosen like that, but they did. I feel kinda stupid, but hopefully no more leaks!
I went over to the right caliper and there was a drop of brake fluid on the bottom rear edge, so I put the wrench on but was only able to tighten the bottom bolt maybe 1/8 turn, and the middle and upper were already tight. No more leaking there either.
I found the Drag Specialties rebuild kit online, and ordered two of the kits with pistons... just to have them here in case I need them later.
Thanks!
Better check the line make sure it isn't dry rotted from sitting all last year....
Dear Mike,
I'd call you an A$$HOLE, but you do have a point! No rot tho...
