How many built/database
« on: January 19, 2015, 09:06:17 PM »

I know it's still mid model year, but is there a way to find out how many of each model and color are built? Or are these CVOs just not as special as I thought they were.    :P

The link I posted above however does not give you the production number per color. It seems difficult to understand that HD is not able to figure out their produced numbers especially for those limited CVO models.

Back in 2012 when I bought my cvo the info was available according to color also. I am thinking someone from this site will be able to find it for you.

Thanks for the link.

I had a Shelby GT500 Mustang, 2011, and Ford could tell you exactly how many of each color, then how many of that color with different options. You'll think Harley would do this to make the CVOs just a little more special.

Several years ago when the CVOs were assembled in a separate building and built by a team and not assembly line that might have been a selling point. Now that they just run a CVO on the standard assembly line it has become more of an option package and not a true CVO (In my opinion.)
As far as the car market info I would bet that comes from a mentality of keeping the car stock just like it came off the assembly line and valuing a matching number original vehicle. Harley has always prided their bikes as being a blank slate that you made your own(if you listened to Willie G at least) from their very thick accessory catalogue, so in that vein a factory stock Harley may be a rare thing.
As a side note I contacted GM Heritage center about a 1947 Chevy I own to get the build sheet info and I was told that that paperwork was thrown out several years ago and there was no way to get exact info on my car. They did have about 100 pages of general info though. Interesting what some companies consider important history and other companies don't.

Yea, I understand that these bikes aren't really all that unique in the grand scheme of things. I would like to be able to say that mine is 1/xxxx in abyss blue. Oh well........

I know when I bought my 2005 VRSCSE it was split down the line 800 each color... How do I know? I went to the KCMO factory as they were being built and the tour took us right past it & I asked the guys that were building them.. Amazingly the build date on my sheet was the day before I took the tour & I saw my bike actually sitting in a group of completed bikes on that day... What they used to do was one senior worker took the bike and assembled each piece along the line from start to finish you essentially had a hand built bike by one person then they signed the inside of the airbox I thought it was sort of cool... But I also like my Road King too

I happened upon the same thing when I took a York factory tour in 2008. They were building the CVO touring bikes and I fell in love with the Crystal Copper/Black Onyx color combination. Four years later I was a proud owner of one!

I also have a 2005 VRSCSE - candy cherry - so maybe you saw my bike being built!

I found some info on my 2010 CVO by color but I couldn't find it until a few years when by. You know they have the information so why not share it!?  When I get home I will locate the old data and see if I can find out if any information is posted for 2014.

For the first few model years there is a thread about the Production Numbers in the Sticky Threads header in each of the specific models under The Custom Vehicle Discussion.  I'm not sure who monitors these Sticky Threads to get these production numbers, but I noticed that not all are up to date.  An example of these Sticky Threads would be ... go to "Screamin Eagle Road Glide" under Custom Vehicle Discussion, and click on the Sticky Thread header.  Click on the thread "2000 SERG Production numbers inside" and you will find the production numbers of each colour in that thread.

Here is the link to one of the breakdowns by color compiled by CVOHARLEY and it's members. As you can see, the numbers are as close as we could get from the MOCO's database. Wydopen was able to get 90% of the numbers for us.
