Do I need to change pushrods?
« on: January 21, 2015, 12:12:53 AM »

Ok, my lovely wife bough me S&S premium lifters and Feuling 574 cams for x-mas. As some of you know, I bought a totaled FLHRSE3 a little over 2 years ago and have been slowly rebuilding it as funds have permited. Now the engine cases had to be replaced due to crash damage so I had to rebuild the engine. So my question is, since the engine was apart anyway, I've installed the new cam and lifters, do I still need adjustable push rods or can I use the stock pushrods?  I know sometimes this is possible but is it OK to do with these pieces as I can't find any info about this.
Thanks, Chris  :orange:

The base circle could be different.

I recall checking a fueling cam and it was not a stock base circle .025 smaller,... I think it was a 574.. Best thing is to get in direct touch with Fueling on that. Things do change.

The 574's have a different base circle so yes, you do need adjustable pushrods..

Thanks for the replies to my question. I did call Feuling today and the stated the same as GMR and H-D Dude. I need adjustable pushrods. So today I went to My Local H-D dealer and picked up a set of SE tapered adjustable pushrods. I'm getting closer every day to lighting this sucker up. I've kept my fingers crossed, so I hope I'm doing everything correctly.
Here's a current picture on my progress so far. In my avatar is what I started with...ouch.
