Yeah, the Hot Citrus DOES pop... it screams "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!" Kind of like an adolescent, really. But you have to see the Ruby Red in the sun. The pics DO NOT do it justice. It's really a very beautiful and classy color. Very deep and rich - like it's namesake.

The Ruby Red is like Princess Di or Jane Seymour... incredibly beautiful, elegant, and absolutely breathtaking. The Hot Citrus is more like Angelina Jolie or Jessica Simpson... just... friggin'... HOT! They both have their merits... heh heh...

We had a LOT of fun today!

Picking one of these SESGs is like choosing between two Victoria's Secret models...sometimes you're in a blonde mood, other times brunette.

I noticed the red SESG had an aftermarket exhaust that appeared to be a 2 into 1 system.  However, the rear showed two mufflers.  Is the left muffler a "dummy" or is it tied into the exhaust system?  

Who is the exhaust manufacturer?

Since PASN YU doesn't appear to be onboard tonight, I'l tell you. It's a D&D Fat Cat. Sounds SICK! Really, really awesome sound. MUCH louder than my Fullsac 2" baffles. And yes, it's a 2-into-1 pipe, with a dummy left side. But he puts out more sound from the one right-side pipe than both of mine put together. Best-sounding exhaust note I have ever heard, anywhere. I thought Rineharts sounded good... but PASN YU's D&D Fat Cat makes Rineharts sound like little old ladies in the church choir on Sunday morning... It's a real Twisted Sister... I think I could take him, tho... heh heh...

I think you'd have to go with your gut as to what color really "hits" you.  Owning a Hot Citrus and seeing the Ruby Red in person, you wouldn't go wrong with either.  They are both beautiful bikes in their own way.  The MoCo hit a home run with this year's color schemes.  You wouldn't regret getting either.  Just depends on what you desire.    If you had a first reaction to one color or the other, go with that and stick with it.  It will be your "right" choice.

I will attest to the fact that PASN YU's D&D is LOUD. Very loud. But it sounds AWESOME! Like I said, best-sounding exhaust I've ever heard....

ahhhh...not so much for me. -1  fwiw I prefer the citrus color over the other, but the spots are a deal breaker for me. I do like the way the black LED works with the Maroon in the fairing; needs the black bezel, though. jmho

I most hearlily agree about the black (with a touch of grey) being so fast.
Only trouble is they take a long time to get off the production line at the MoCo.
But just wait. Once built and delivered to me I will show how fast (grey and) black can be.

JMHOP But I have seen both these bikes side by side at Sturgis.  This is one time I think the most photogenic color is the citrus.
In person I preferred the Ruby.

I really like the Corbin. It was super comfortable on an extended ride this past weekend - probably 4 hours total riding time. Corbins are very firm, but they say the firmness spreads the weight very effectively. So far, so good. The backrest provides very good support... no more "electric back sparking" like I was getting with the stock pan.

I will probably need to adjust the backrest back just a bit after I get the Wild 1 Chubby pullback bars on tomorrow. Bike's a real mess right now - front end is completely apart and the bars are off!

And here's a close-up of the gore... I think my wife is in shock that I would tear apart a brand-new motorcycle like this... I just can't believe all of the crap I had to take off to get the $%&#in' bars off!

W-W-What? Crap! I just threw all the bolts and screws and stuff in a baggie... I figure I shouldn't have any left when I'm done!

Just kidding... each set of bolts/screws/washers is together in its own little place on the shelves...  along with the thing(s) they hold on... and the counts are all correct, too. It's really not difficult... just very procedural... and each thing goes back on in the reverse order of when it came off. I'm sure there'll be a bit of hunting for the proper location of some of the sets of fasteners... but that's all part of the FUN! Plus, I have my H-D Service Manual to consult if I really get stuck!

YEP! The MoCo really pulled off a Hat Trick with the CVO SGs this year! I'm still looking forward to seeing my first Black and Slate in person... I'm sure it's beautiful. I've always liked the off-blacks - Slate, Black Pearl, even the Black Denim - although I prefer shiny, wet-looking paint.

I tried just removing the radio and lower fairing skirt... but the lower cross member of the inner that forms the radio opening was right on top of the two lower Torx 40 bolts that hold the bars on. I had to get that out of the way to loosen them. I couldn't get even get a Torx bit on those two lower bolts, so I decided to remove the inner fairing to make everything easily accessible.

Just funnin with ya.   Back on topic......I've yet to see the ruby. I've been in a lot of dealerships in Nor Cal and haven't saw the ruby yet but that orange one is definately a keeper.

JC - with THIS Corbin I totally agree. It fits me like a glove, and I didn't have to do any squirming around on the ride today to get/stay comfortable. I love this seat! (The backrest is another story... see below...) 

But with the Corbin that was on Bertha the Evo when we bought her, I couldn't ride for more than 30 minutes without my legs starting to go numb. The throat on that seat was way to wide for me, and it was too high. I sold it on eBay for $300, and bought a Mustang Regal and rider backrest that is still on Bertha today. I love that seat, too.

I like Mustang's backrest implementation better than any other seat I've seen. You can remove the backrest just by pulling up on it (of course, so can thieves, I suppose!), it has multiple click points that hold it at different heights, it folds down for the passenger to get on/off, and has a knurled nut on the back that allows you to easily adjust it forward or backward. With the Corbin, I have to use an Allen wrench to install/remove the backrest, and swap out bolts to adjust the lean angle of it. The doughnut shape of the backrest is also not very comfortable... it puts pressure points on my back where the upper and lower parts of the doughnut are. On the ride today, I had to lean forward often to relieve the pressure on my back. The solid, heavily-padded Mustang backrest on Bertha is far more comfortable for long rides.

So, for comfort... Corbin gets an "A" for the seat, but only a "C" at best for the backrest. The Mustang on Bertha gets straight "A"s for both seat and backrest... but it doesn't have orange flames that match the Hot Citrus!

SWEET! Welcome to the FLHXSE3 SHOOTOUT Club! We need more Hot Citrus owners in here to keep the score even!

I have to say that this bike exceeds my expectations... I love the way it looks and performs. I only thing I do not like is the useless stock seat... but I suppose that's more of a back issue on my part than the seat itself, and I fixed that with the Corbin seat. Still, they really should have provided a rider backrest option with the stock seat... I read somewhere that the average age of CVO buyers is now 54, and I'm exactly that ripe old age. Most of us have some sort of physical ailment(s) by 54, and the stock seat was was simply PAINFUL for me.

The sound system sounds really, really good. It's like I am in a cocoon of sound, even at highway speeds. I played around with the front/rear fader to get the right balance... right now I have it set at +2 rear. I wonder what a Tour Pak mounted subwooofer would sound like???

I didn't get a chance to see either colour but took the plunge and ordered the Citrus in July 2011, Citrus is a hard colour to take a decent picture of with all the pop in the sun, shade, at night and under a street light its a different colour. My custom Fatboy in Candy Red sits beside the SG and the SG really pops beside the Candy red. Both are beautiful colours but that Citrus is the Bomb.

I agree, Anton. I have taken a LOT of pics of my bike - but the Hot Citrus does NOT come out nearly as pretty as it is in person in any of them. It's SO beautiful in person - but nearly impossible to photograph accurately.

I have found that the best thing is to get it out on a cloudy but fairly bright day, with no sunshine. Sunshine will make the yellow in the paint just POP right out at the camera, and the parts that look that beautiful orange to your eyes will look all YELLOW to the camera. Flash or indoor lights do the same thing - using a flash doesn't work at all... all you see it yellow-gold.

If you have access to pro equipment, flashing off of a background diffuser should help a lot... it will eliminate the yellow from popping out at the camera so much. The Citrus is a really complex paint formulation... lots of different colors of small flake in it.. The Gunstock is also quite complex... lots of different flake colors in it, too.

I've got to come clean.  I posted that I was getting the Citrus but ended up with the Ruby Red.  I had ordered the Citrus but the red came in before it and I went to look at the red and ended up with it.  My wife rode my Red SESG and fell in love with it one Sunday afternoon and said  she would like one.  I text the GM at the dealership that I do business with and ask when he would have a Citrus one coming in.  He text me right back and said tomorrow.  Well the rest is history.  She ended up with the citrus.  When we are on the bikes and people come look at then it's about a 50/50 split on the color that they like.  So with that said I guess you need to add a red to the count.

I am biased as well as i just picked up my citrus sg on wednesday. But i must say after seeing them both that the citrus looks more like a custom color and the red looks close to a lot of other harley colors...just my opinion....although if my dealer had red insted of orange i would have owned red lol

My thoughts exactly, the Citrus looks more like a custom colour and the Red will always be around. Either way I would be happy if I had the Red as well.
