I'm working with a painter on the new design for my 07 and I would like to be able to show him good examples of CVO Electra Glides that came before 2007.
I'm looking for good hi-res shots of the front, rear and side with any other shots spotlighting the details, pin striping etc.
I'm looking for shots of the 2004 - 2006 models in all available colors.
Show me what ya got.
Thanks.

Chief,
I think you're just trying to confuse everyone with paint selection! Let's see, "Wow, that's the first '04 I've seen with a 110". In any event, I think it will be a great choice. The '07 paint schemes never blew me away, but that's just my opinion, others love it! Also, just my opinion, but the '04-'05's were the best looking CVO bikes the MoCo ever built! I do love the newer bikes, but something about those paint schemes from '04-'05 still grab me. I guess they did you too! Of course, any of the '06 paint schemes would work perfectly with your leather TP. Good luck with the paint selection. Sure look forward to seeing the project progress! BTW, we had an awesome time in N.GA and really enjoyed meeting you and Pinkie!

Craig,
Honestly I'm not trying to cause trouble here, just trying to gather as much info for the painter as I can. I started out thinking I knew what I wanted, but after looking at some of the jobs he's done, I realized that he is an artist and the last thing an engineer should do is direct an artist. I'm really looking forward to seeing what ideas he comes up with.
I've seen a bunch of helmets he's painted and we're going to let him paint Pinkie's Nolan in some way cool design that is special to her.

Hey Chief, if you really interested in getting rid if the rivets in the front fender and don't want to get a new fender, here's one that's been welded up. Just need to make the brackets and spray with weld thru primer. Just needs to be ground down.

:indian_chief:
Yeah, pretty much. The '04s had the previous style lowers on them and did not have as large an opening on the side, so it permitted a little more creativity with the paint scheme. '05s and up have solid colors.
-

:indian_chief:
I believe you are correct, and the reason I think they left the '05's one color is because they were vented. Not sure how paint would have looked/lasted w/that plastic painted constantly moving back and forth inside the lowers.

Good job on the rear fender with the led's like a street glide. I've seen them on a couple of bikes in chrome and I really didn't care for it. But your's really fits the bike and looks kick@. Thanks Mike, I lucked out with the black set up. I actually got it on there before they brought out the kit and it is definitely one of the features that draws me to the Street Glide for a third bike. Just wish they'd make a SE version.
Everytime I sit down to do a build I get stuck on the SE starter kit bikes when I see what I've done to my SEUC. By the time I get all the OCD crap I like I may as well go SE. So I am thinking I'll wait until mid-summer to see if they bring out a Street Glide and if not I think I'm dropping back a year or two for an SEEG.
Seems it's the bike of choice for the site and I wouldn't want to be left out ::)

I think so. Haven't noticed any others anyway. Certainly prefer it over the little baby cover and ugly bolt we're given stock.
Had to do a fair bit of body and fender work to the cover to make it work with the six speed. When I finally got around to messing with it (how long did that take, a year?) it was maybe an hour long job one night of trips back and forth to the bench grinder and Dremel. When finally had the contour where it needed to be just dressed the edge and sprayed it with a good clear. Has held up so far without issue or discoloration.
What happened with yours? It looks so much better with that than without that even if it meant working over another it'd be worth it.
-

It cracked around the trans cover boss. Probably from taking it on and off to check the trans oil (only when I changed the oil though)
I feel the same way with the way it looks and was ready to go out and buy a new one, till I got out the die grinder.

There were a couple of subtle differences on mine compared to what you'd described with yours. Probably because fo the six speed. My line cleared ok. My dipstick did to. So once the body and fender work was done I didn't have to have it on and off as yours required. Will keep my fingers crossed and assume I won't run in to the same problem :2vrolijk_21: .

TLR & Porthole --
I was just talking to some friends today about adding this piece. Could y'all be a bit more specific on the alterations you had to make? I wanted to start on Candy's SEEG, it has the stock tranny, any new tools I will need prior to attempting this? :nixweiss: Please advise! :2vrolijk_21:

With the stock tranny it's different than mine so best let Duane cover the details. What he'd told me generally before though was that the cover bolted on. It partially obstructed the tranny dipstick so had to be removed at time of transmission service. Also I believe he had to tweak (bend) the hydraulic line just a bit to gain room for the cover to go in and out. How much bending or greater detail will be left to Duane.
On the six speed you actually have to work the cover over quite a bit. A fair bit of metal is removed. But once it's done there is no problem with the line or blockage of the dipstick. So it can stay on forever.

Last one for now. Flash just doesn't work well indoors, and I shake too much to take good pictures without flash. I had what I thought was a good picture of the right side of the engine with the R&R cam plate.............but it was blurred. I'll get some pictures in sunlight and post.

Is that a squashed bug on the inside of your fairing??
He'll be looking for hours now. hehehehe

Since it's been so nice here the last couple of days (in the 70's) I've been able to get out do some riding and get some updated pictures.
First I'd like to apologize if there are any bugs/debris or anything else found on my bike. We've been under water restrictions for several months and I've not been able to wash/detail it. :(

I have seen those on yours, Terry's and others, but it just hasn't floated my boat yet. Even though it is chrome it just hasn't reached out to me and said "you got to have it". I'm more of a chrome on motor type person then I'm chrome on painted surfaces. :nixweiss: If it had not been for some bubbling around the windshield/fairing screws I doubt I would have that piece of chrome on the fairing.

I was told by dealer that it came from overtightening the screws that hold windshield. Just the clear bubbled and it is not noticeable w/the chrome strip on there now. :2vrolijk_21: For those that put either one of the chrome strips offered by the MoCo on there bikes new more then likely will not see this problem because it spreads the pressure/clamping force over a wider area.

Gary, I don't want to hear any more chit about how clean I keep my bike, Bro. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenjump3: For not being able to wash your bike for months on end, the Pumpkin looks GREAT! Awesome job. And about that spear...........I think it looks great............on someone elses bike, but not mine. My Father-In-Law has it on his RG, and it looks good there, but it doesn't do anything for me when visualized on my front fender.
So..........what is your secret to a clean bike during water restrictions? :nixweiss:

I wipe the bike down after each ride w/an Absorber Chamois to get the bugs off, then wipe down w/Microfiber cloth to get rid of streaks. Before riding I'll use a California Duster to get any dust that settled on it while sitting that's about it. :nixweiss:

Yea we have a serious water drought here in Georgia so the dealership wont even wash mine after servicing or after the put my wheels on next Friday. I might have to get out there at 2am and do it secretely. Or put a drain in my garage. Anyways my buddy just got his street glide home after some mods so I figured this would be an appropriate place to post since it has custom paint.

BTW looks good dood, I'm jealous of the chrome! Is that your personal photographer in the mirror? Thought about changing my air cleaner as well, but I want to keep some yellow in it. i may just put the insert on there without sourrounding piece.

Thanks. Whatever I do I just can't seem to shake that photographer he follows me around everywhere. If not him his shadow. ;)
I didn't really like the bland looking football shaped A/C cover that came on my bike, and since I could get the matching A/C cover and horn cover I switched. I do like the look of those that have switched there '05's to just the insert w/o the surrounding piece. To top that I've seen a melon (displacing air's) w/a green filter. It would be awesome if you could find a yellow filter. :bananarock:

hey D00d......happy Thanksgiving. I don't know why you didn't mention it you never hesitated before. ;) This could be remedied for under $10.00 guess I'll be getting this taken care of soon - Chrome Fork Axle Retainer Nut Kit P/N 45813-03 (http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446435521&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374309218098&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374309218098&bmUID=1195757014553&bmLocale=en_US) while I'm at it I'll have to check and see if I need these - Chrome Fork Slider Drain Screw Kit P/N 45848-03 (http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524447507067&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374309218098&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374309218098&bmUID=1195755193049&bmLocale=en_US) also.
There are still a few little things that I need to add some here that haven't decided if I want to add or not, and some I need to purchase.

Now, I really wasn't trying to start anything.......just not sure if Gary had over-looked a really easy correctable upgrade......not expensive, but right up-front to cause the most desireable good 1st impression. And YES, D00d, the chrome drain screw is needed if not already in there. :orange: :orange: :orange: :coolblue: :coolblue: :coolblue: Har! :drink:spyder

Actually, for the last trip I posted multiple times what our plans were for MV, but it seemed that we were leaving too early for everyone else going. And I just didn't know where you were. But in our defence, doing Skyline Drive was a last minute route change (one of many)
