Interesting info. I agree with others that this will certainly help the aftermarket, plus, the Softail line has been going soft-pun intended! over last few years(Fatboys, Convertibles, Slims, Blacklines, Deluxe, Heritage......all with touring bike-ish footboards).
The edgier Softail designs have been gone for years(Deuce, Custom, Crossbones, Night Train, Rocker, Springer, etc).
Putting the Breakout into the standard line brings some of that mojo back, IMO.
A couple of items I don't like(NOT comparing it to the CVO, just based on what I "like"):
*Wheels-terrible. If you have a big 21" wheel wide enough for a 130 tire you are putting front and center of the bike, it just can't be black. IMO, the ONLY HD that carries a black wheel well is the V-ROD NRS. Plus HD has already done this wheel. It looks exactly like the wheel they were putting on some Sporty models for years.....new model into the lineup, you must put it on new rolling stock.
*Chrome headers with black mufflers....uh, no. Pick one or the other. screws up the sight-lines of the bike.
What I DO like:
*drag bars...exceptional choice they made here. I have no idea what the comfort/fit level will be with them, but who cares? It really accentuates the slammed design of the bike...
BTW, does the new model appear to sit higher than the CVO version? Could just be the pictures I am seeing...
Thanks for posting the info and pix!
