Would like to set up my touring pak on my 2001 Ultra as detachable. Is this possible?
And if so, how involved is it to do??

Yes, HD makes a quick detach kit for your tour-pak.  Sorry don't know the part number.
Had this on my 02 Ultra and it works well.  When I removed the tour-pak, I had a backrest that quick connected on the same hardware.
The only real work is getting all of the wires set up so you can easily unplug everthing.

Yes, it is possible - I did it on a 2001 and a 2004.  Not very difficult if you are at all mechanically inclined - if fact - fairly simple.  Not overly expensive either - for the MOCO that is...

I did my 01,03,04 as detachables.   I am going to try this extended plate kit that people have posted about for the 07.
