OK, I got one for all of you out there. I bought my bike out of state so will my new parts go to that new dealer that I bought it from or is the MOCO actually smart enough to look at my zip code and get them to me in the right state. I know that the MOCO "awards" dealers with "X" number of CVO's so I wonder if the dealer gets the that number of fixes based on what they sold or is this a general stocking of parts?.

I was originally told that each dealer would get enough kits to cover the number of CVOs they sold.

I'm in the same boat as you.

:indian_chief:
That may not be as bad as it sounds. :nixweiss: I would think there are a lot of CVO owners that have bought from dealers other then the one local to them and don't take their bikes back to selling dealer for service. Unless you are in area w/a dealer that sold very few CVO's then you shouldn't be in to bad shape. Now if the letter comes out and says you have to go back to "dealer you purchased from" then that may be a PITA. :(

I was thinking that HD was going to push out a few kits to each dealer, but not that specific as to how many were sold by the dealer.  During recalls in the atuomotive world, a "float" of parts is sent to get the program started so that when someone comes in for the recall or repair, they have some parts in stock, and can reorder to keep a few in stock.  I do not think they can force you to return to the selling dealer.
How long will they provide this fix beyond the warranty period?
Beyond the warranty will they charge the $50 deductible to those with the ESP?
What extension are they providing to the factory warranty?  Now that they "admit" issues, will the fix have a warrant?
Am I expecting too much here?

Howie, FTW, right?

Not concerned about my dealer working on mine. They have done the gaskets twice. Second time got the B gasket before they had a part number. Not had a problem since and have doubled the miles since the B set was put on. Parts will be sent where needed. Just make sure dealer orders and gets them before you take bike in.

The whole idea behind the parts program is that all the parts go to the dealers BEFORE the letters go out. All of this was done to prevent people going to their dealers before the parts kits are in-hand.

Must be Kharma.  I just checked and engine #2 is just starting to leak at the rear gasket.  Just about 6000 miles on the replacement engine.
yippee!  Time to call customer service and reopen the ticket!

If the repair is a complete top end, and if the repair is to be given to even those that have had repairs done before, one has to wonder what compensation will be granted to those that went aftermarket for cylinders or other parts to repair it themselves while Harley was still saying you can't believe what you read on the Internet.

OK, that really was a rhetorical question.
My guess would be that they won't compensate for that work. :(
