Speaking of wardrobe.....


AJ, (and anyone else) picture if you will (ok, I didn't mean for this to sound like the sound intro to the Twilight Zone) a Bushtec Roadstar trailer.  All painted to match an 05 red SEEG (it's not yet, but it's a work in progress).

The trailer has the black bra that came with it and the black cooler cover that sets in front of the trailer on the tongue.  I've found sources for an apparently good grade of vinyl that is made to match the ostrich print leather on the tan seat. 

But the tan seat isn't always on the bike.

However, especially with the gold wide stripe that separates the red colors on the paint job I think the tan would look better than the black in any case.  But the vinyl is also offered in a couple of red shades with the ostrich print also.  One of which looks as if it would go nicely against the red paint job.

A local leather shop has also said he's sew it all up for me at a surprisingly reasonable cost.  Cost of the material and his labor would end up being a couple hundred bucks all tolled.

So whatdya think:

1) Leave the black bra and cooler cover against the red paint job?

2) Go with the tan to accent the gold stripe and the tan leather seat?

3) Go with the red so that the seat choice wouldn't matter (and hopefully it'd be a nice complementary look much better than just the black)


So, whadya think?

You've got two seats, why not get two covers? You know a real  would color coordinate.

Funny you mention this. When I was at the gym this morning after I posted this I thought to myself he would have covers to match both seats now (Black cover/black seat and tan cover/tan seat). I guess if he were to get both covers tan and red he would have to end up getting a red seat too.

I think you should get an elongated mud flap with reflective (and I don't mean that in an intellectual sense) naked women on it, and hang that off the a$$ end of the Red Bike.  You can cut holes in it for the exhaust pipes.  Problem solved...








Getting the tan would be the way to go.  Have you considered putting the 3M stuff on the front and just having the trailer be all red when the tan seat isn't on there?  Some manufacturers of trailers (Uni-Go) do this.  It would also protect the paint from grit underneath the bra.

Typically happens on the beach, at night.  It generally infiltrates other areas as well, causing great discomfort at some point in time.

No, had not thought about putting that protective sheeting on the front of the trailer.  Last time I bought some of that stuff someone broke in to my garage though.  Must be bad karma....

of course if you futz around TOOOO long,  you end up getting RED.

Crap, now the entire bra question isn't nearly so amusing.  The little trailer isn't getting painted after all; at least not right now.

Had a local paint shop called West Side Customs see pictures, see the bike and trailer, offer a price to do the job and have the price accepted.  Left them the trailer several days ago and they proceeded to disassemble for paint work.

Got a call today and was told 1) the price they offered to do the job wasn't going to be enough, they wanted a little over 15% more and 2) they didn't really like the design scheme (i.e., to match the bike) and would really need to paint it in a way that looked good to them.

I can't stand a vendor who thinks they can bait and switch the price.  That they wait to do until after some disassembly and preparation has already been done thinking you'll think you are locked in to the process is even more of an aggrevation.

After a brief conversation wherein it became apparent they weren't going to quickly fall back to the original quote I told the guy to go reproduce himself and just put it all back together.  He seemed perhaps surprised at the response.  But screw it, if there's any alternative I'm not spending money with a vendor who will behave in such a way.  Just isn't going to happen.

So now they're stuck doing disassembly and reassembly labor for free.  No date some of the reassembly will be half-assed so I'll need to audit their work very carefully.  But at least they're not getting a dime for their efforts.

Now have to figure out a Plan B.
