First you must go down the steep path to the beach!

Pebbles!  I don’t think so!  Heavy too!    :o

Pounding waves and shifting ice polish the colorful rocks.  Each spring the lake modifies the display by pushing the rocks up before rearranging the driftwood.

At this point it is late and I was to settle here however that would not be the case!  No motel rooms available.  I was not going to back track and the next possibility was over 120 miles away.  You gotta go!    :'(

White River, ON created Winnie's Hometown Festival to commemorate the little black bear cub, originally purchased in White River by a soldier during the first World War, and later to become an inspiration in children's literature.

With all of the road construction krewes needing rooms and limited motel rooms, finding a one would prove to be difficult!  I meet several people along the way attempting to conduct the same effort on motorsickles.  We all laughed until it was getting dark.  Why?  Moose!  Plenty of them too!

Finally I arrived in Wawa, ON, called all of the motels while on the bike but nothing.  Was about to exit town and saw a sign – “Vacancy”!  As I rode up to the motel…Rut Roh!  The outside conditions made you think you are about to enter the Bates Motel!

Rough does not begin to describe that this place looked however it did not look like a room would be available until Sault Ste. Marie.  I inquired of the status of the property and was informed that it had just re-opened after being closed for over two years.  The lobby and hallways had not been refurbished however I was willing to take what I could get.

As I opened my door I was pleasantly surprised!  The room had been refurbished and was quite acceptable.  I was relieved and quickly reminded myself that I cannot judge a book by its cover.

In the morning when I departed I noticed that the sign was changed to “No Vacancy” and the dirt/gravel parking lot was full.

Jock, we two covered some mutual territory on our trips. Sturgis and all the sites, Devil's Tower, Helena MT - where I departed and headed north to Canada and Alaska.

Encountered the smokey roads and skies of Montana and into BC which likely blew out your Banff trip. Road construction in Canada was heavy and hotels full but I was able to get lodging by making reservations the prior day or early in the morning. Tok, AK was packed and I got lucky on the way  in and out.

More smokey skies coming south into the US. The smoke extended from Great Falls, MT all the way down to Ogden, UT and then clear except for a fire east of Provo.

Keep posting my friend and ride safe!

Well at least I am in a different country.  Staying on Highway 17 around the lake, there are some nice hills that surround the water.

The Canadian Carver and Agawa Indian Crafts is located near Pancake Bay and a natural stop for tourists.
