I'd probably sell this one for a discount if anyone wanted a 550 that was new at a cheaper price-but if no one would want it I guess I'll keep it. Sure would be nice to have the bigger screen though.

What is the return policy? If you'd be better of reselling here, there are plenty of folks who still favor the 550, or return it and get a 660.

I'll probably just keep it.  I'd like the bigger screen but that's probably the only difference that would matter to me.  Actually I didn't really want one in the first place---my wife kept insisting and then she wanted bike to bike communication too so I just figured this would be a way I could hear the GPS-through the headset as I'm sure I wouldn't be able to read it without putting on reading glasses :P  Ane it would be nice to use a telephone if I really had to but the main thing I told my wife I liked about riding was the peace and quiet.  Not really quiet but at least no one talking to me that I had to listen too.

Ditto; I like the GPS in the car cause I just want to get there the most direct route, but on my bike I love getting lost somewhere between here and there and figuring it out as I go. Ya never know what great times fate has in store for ya  :drink:

But, I've had many a time while ridding on fumes that being able to locate the nearest fuel stop would put me at ease. I like the technowlogy but just don't want to hang one of them things on my Hog.

With the GPS, when I'm riding on back roads, and I see another back road turning off of it, and then roads turning off that one, I don't hesitate to just make the random turns and go wherever the roads take me.  I always know that I can just hit the buttons to take me home, and I'm never lost.  Since I got the GPS, I've been on some roads that I would have never ventured off on before.  Now I'm on the lookout for any turnoffs that will take me further off the beaten trail.  I could do that with the built-in GPS also, but that required stopping, and putting in the CD, and frankly, that was a real pain in the seat adjacent part of my body.  I just wish the Garmin 550 did as much as the GPS built in to my new SUV, or that the screen was as big...but it certainly serves its' intended purpose.  GPS is becoming like cell phones and ATM cards...I'm starting to forget how I ever got along without it.

For those not sure which way to go, WebBike World did a very in depth review on the 660... They do some great write-ups.

Might also want to wait another month for the release of the info on the new model.

I've heard it mentioned a couple times, but haven't had any luck Googling for info...

I'd like to say i'm fine with waiting for a new release, so the price on the older model drops to a more reasonable price... but since the 550 is still selling for at or more than the 660, that may not be the case here... lol

I don't know anything else. I was told that the info would be released in January. I've been fishing myself for more info so I can decide if I want to upgrade from my 660.  That said, if I was a betting man I would guess they will add XM and a few other minor updates and call it a 770.

It wouldn't surprise me if they do come out with a new model...that's what they're in the business for.  I definitely don't think you'd go wrong with the 660 (or the 550 for that matter).  I have the HD 660 Zumo and really like it.  I don't miss the fact that it doesn't have XM cuz I can load it up with my favorite toons on the 8 gb micro-SDHC card.  It definitely is the fastest  acquiring and rerouting GPS I've ever owned.  Very happy with it.

XM isn't a player for me either... I've got 16gb of music, so I'm good with MP3, and also plan to utilize the stereo bluetooth on the 660, which the 550 won't do with XM. Still holding out for a good deal, since I just bought the wife a new one that I can use in my truck until riding season... so I'm all for a new model and a price drop on the old before then!
