Hey Jacksglide, sorry about both of my comments. all commenting, snide and otherwise aside, the only way to keep these things clean is to keep after it. I myself have not noticed the issue you are speaking about, and since I now live in Georgia (humidity, humidity, humidity) I am looking out for this. I had V&H pipes on my '96 road king and they seemed to have an issue with the chrome on the end caps pitting and flaking off. this is my first foray back into the V&H world and I am hoping they have improved on their quality control. I have no issues with exhaust gases escaping through the gap between the cap and the muffler body. I keep the ends clean by wiping them down sometime after each ride with some quick detailer spray (or nu-finish for the stubborn stuff) and that seems to take care of the problem. I have ridden in the rain with them for a couple of hundred miles and not seen what you are speaking of. I had supertrapps on my '07 CVO ultra and they did turn colors after several thousand mile so I am hoping these don't. I ride quite a-lot and while I like my bike clean, and that first nick or scratch really pisses me off, once it happens I can just relax and ride, (after I touch it up). Hope you enjoy your bike as much as I do mine and we probably will run into each other out there, although we may not know it.
