Bubblehead....what did you do to your saddlebag latches to replace the reflector with chrome?

Those are Drag Specialties item.....   http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=40248.msg620132#msg620132

You have to paint the ball milled insets by hand, model paint and brush with a steady hand.

Actually I bought the bike that way. Really it's just take out the reflector and stick in the replacement piece of your choice. There are lots of differant styles on ebay.

Ken   what's up? Me, been really busy working on a possible new business have only ridden 3-4 times in the last six weeks.

I've been trying to ride 3-4 times per week.  Man I haven't even thought of installing the chrome saddle bag crash bars until I saw yours on the black 2012 SESG, WOW they look great!  Are they a straight bolt on?

This probably goes without saying but just in case, you have to change the entire saddlebag mounts not just bolt on the guards.

No I didn't know that, I thought the front guards just bolted on. So from what you are saying I assume the new one will include the front guard welded to the bottom rail that the bags rest on, and as a complete unit they bolt onto the bike?

No they're not welded. Everything is bolt on

Here's the installation instructions to give you a better idea of how they mount.

Installed a set on my 09 SG and trust me, if I can do it then it's a pretty easy install.  ;D

I installed mine this past weekend. The original saddlebag supports will have to be removed. The new guards will be in two pieces. One replaces the support and the other is the actual saddlebag guard. They bolt together for the finished product. Not too bad of a project.

Take Care.

Thanks, the installation instructions explain it all.  Not as robust as what I had in mind but it sure looks good installed with the bags on.

If you have a short legged partner riding pillion it might be worth while considering the slanted  bag protection bars. The slanted top to these bars allows your pillion to have a more relaxed leg position down to the pillion pegs. I will be ordering the slanted version shortly.
Ride safe all.
