All about options.... possible features/colors on one model that a person likes over the other but still wants the versatility to have both bike's. Some like the looks of the stretched bags, rear fender fascia of the SESG but know they will travel w/the bike and want a TP. Some might like the color scheme of the SEL but want the stretched bags and rear fender fascia of the SESG and want to take the TP off to have the "draggin' bagger" look when the TP is not needed.

Funny how all Touring bikes are the exact same bike mechanically, just with different trimmings.

Kinda like a Cadillac vs. a Chevy, or for that matter all GM vehicles... I still don't get why they make GM trucks and Chevy trucks. They are the exact same truck with minor skin differences!

I know... I know... "Demographic Marketing"...

That's it exactly... I bought a Yukon in 2000 everybody asked me why I didn't buy a Tahoe... reason was the wheels on the Yukon... they appealed to me more than the wheels on the Tahoe :zstupid:... well that and I had bought several vehicles from same dealership/sales person. It's the subtle things that can make a difference sometimes. :nixweiss:

For me, yeah that is pretty much true.
I liked the SG for me personally. Its a bit more sporty looking in my eyes. Perhaps the stretched bags makes that impression. But I NEED a tour pack for the wife to ride so I ordered it when I purchased the bike with the quick releases so I do not have to use them when solo.
Funny you mention it though. My buddy and I had been out looking at bikes for a few weeks sizing up what is out there new and used, weighing in on the options. Both of us ride choppers and have a pretty large network of friends especially in the Midwest here that get together often. We know each other from meets created from chopper forums. Our intent was to buy bikes we could use to more easily make small gatherings of those friends more often, and none of us are getting any younger! In fact I hauled this bike down to Oklahoma for a meet already. If my buddy had purchased his road sofa already we would have road instead of trailering. We had been to the local HD dealership a few times as well as others but word that the 15s were coming in made us stop by again. My interest was to see a new Limited Low. I watched the first shipment of 15s get off loaded and checked out the bikes including the Low. Included with the shipment was this CVO SG. I had no intention of buying a CVO nor had I even ever known the program existed. Hell, I'm into old bikes and building, not new stuff!  ;)
I was just trying to wrap my mind around owning and riding a stock bike, making it work for me somehow. When I realized there was this limited edition concept, different from "most" of the stock stuff I immediately realized that is what works best for me.  :bananarock:
Stock.......but not! Basically I told the salesman, hold it for me till tomorrow so I have time to call my bank. I just need to be able to accommodate the wife and kid when I want but could have something super cool in my mind as well when I ride solo. It would still be very reliable and could easily cover a lot of miles getting me down the road to friends' meets from time to time. The package works from all angles. All of my builder friends are acquiring some sort of touring bike now to do just what I've explained. We still like and build simple stripped down bikes, but it sure is nice to just get out and ride without worrying if I have all the tools I need for a roadside repair! God I love this bike......... ;D

Hey jpswino,
That is exactly why I bought my Rose...shes a 2012 cvo convertible. She comes with windshield, saddle bags, passenger seat and sissy bar with pad...all of which can be removed in about 60 seconds. So she is ready to go for long distance touring or around town cruising...she is very versatile. And in my eyes she does look bad-ass without all of the excess baggage.
I also like the cvo Road Glide. For the reason I mentioned above I would like it a lot more if the bags were detachable without the brackets showing. It would be hot to show off a cvo custom wheel back there.

Check again, the sarcastic proposal to me that I am either a fool with my money or just plain lazy for "wasting" $300 on a car oil change was first. Hence my response you quoted. Get Got it right next first time.
Your skin must be thinner than the skin on hen's teeth if you thought those were hard hits.
Got it right the first time.  You should try it.
