Depends if you want to look through it or over. I have the Medium on an 06 Road Glide and wish it was lower. I will be ordering the short for the new Road Glide.

Thanks Brad,
I want to look over it by about an inch or two. So what would be your recommendation. I was considering the lrg at 14 1/2" but that may be too tall. If caught in the rain I have to look over. I am about 5'10" tall.

I'm also 5' 10" my crrent shield is I think is a medium Clearview and is to tall by at least an 1 1/2". I'm going to order a small. I feel it will be the correct height. Plus the recurve helps alot on forcing the air upwards.

Wow Brad, glad I didn't order mine today. I have had clearview shields in the past and had a hard time with returns. So do I understand you correctly that you will skip the stock heigth and go to the small? And that is on an 09 SERG with the stock seat? Thanks in advance for your help!

Stock Harley shield - 12 1/2"

Harley Tall shield - 14 3/4"

GT Small - 11 1/2"

GT Stock Height - 12 1/2"

GT Medium - 13 1/2"

GT Large - 14 1/2"

GT X-Large - 16 1/4"

I'm about 5'10" also.  On the 00 SERG the 12" Clearview was perfect with the stock seat.  With the thicker Corbin saddle I need the 14" screen.  Of course that doesn't help a lot without knowing where your saddle is in comparison to either of those two...

Before you jump call CV and ask their guidance. I have have not received my 09 yet(due in late October) but the seat looks like the seat is low like my 06. I have been measuring this based on my 06 roadglide. I am thinking either the small or stock height. TN just applied a small i beleive to his new Road Glide and he likes it.

On my '04 RG I'm using the GT Large, and I'm 5'11" with a somewhat disproportionately large torso (equivalent of someone 6'1").  As you might notice from this pic, I sit fairly straight up, and when the road ahead is level, I see over the shield by about 1 1/2 inches.  On a hill, I need to sit up even straighter to see over the shield.  So, unless you're fairly tall, I would recommend something shorter than the GT Large.

Edit:  It does an amazing job of blocking the wind, and I stay fresh after a 500mi day, when others can be wiped out.

ear plugs......

FYI
The best earplugs are those ones that look like christmas trees if you know what I mean. The foam ones are ok, but get cruddy quick AND, believe it or not, the $100 custom made from a mold of your ear ones like the NASCAR drivers wear do not cut down as much wind noise as either the littler rubber christmas trees or the foam jobbies. I have a pair of custom fitted ones and they are comfortable to use all day long but still let in quite a bit of road noise.

ear plugs......

Agreed!  Been a musicial guy all my life and have read several articles about ear damage from wind noise on a bike even with a helmet.  Foam plugs work great for me but you do have to replace often.  Just keep a few extra on the bike.  They are washable, btw....  I can still hear the stereo, traffic, etc.  Makes for a more relaxing ride.

I only have 50 miles on my new SERG but I can already agree with everyone. I was deaf after 50 miles. The wind absolutely beat my ears into submission. I have read thmost of the posts about shields, and most are recommending the -1 Clearview. Since it takes 4-6 weeks to get one, I'm considering maybe getting two, the 11-1/2" and a 14-1/2".  I've red good reports on the blem also. Immediate shipping. The problem is the Extra large 16-1/2" is the only one they're showing right now. Maybe wait a week and see what they come up with in the blems.

I had the 11 1/2" on my 07 RG and liked it, but the stock shield cut down gave me a better feel as to wind and the fact I could clean the back of the shield better, CV has a sharp angle that makes cleaning the back of the sheild difficult. I would go with the clearview on the SERG as it will look a lot better, I am 6.1" with a 31" inseam and the 11 1/2" clearveiw allowed me to see over the shield and still give me some protection but I do not like looking thru a shield and will not do it.  Doc

Its a  personal thing, Ive been looking through windshields for 0ver 50 years and have never considered it an inconvenience, the Clearview shield has such excellent clarity that with the fixed fairing it is no different then looking through your car windshield, properly treated with Plexus or other aircraft type polish, the rain is not a visibility problem either.

It's a great bike. You just have to take off the factory "wind screen" and throw it as far as you can!

They look great on boats.....Ask Chip...

Any 09 SERG owners in the 5'10" range care to make a reccommendation for the GT Med 13 1/2" as compared to the GT Lrg 14 1/2" Clearview shield? I am leaning toward the GT Med. any help will be appreciated!

Rob,
When you wee on mine in Dallas I have a 14.5 Med if that gives you any ideas....Greg
