Now that's a truck!  :2vrolijk_21:

I've got a 03' F-250 with a V-10 with 86K. Runs fine, plenty of get up and go, (360hp). Pushes snow without effort. I've owned Chevy's, GMC's and Fords and have had good luck with all of them. I personally like Fords for work trucks.

Still lumpin' along in my "go to the dump" truck.  Also, I tow with a Dodge Cummins one ton.

I think I prefer the interior of the Ford's I had (one tons) but the power and looks of the Dodge's ain't all bad.

I had two 2500 extended cab Duramax diesels a 03 and 06. The 03 had terrible brakes with a 5 speed Allison transmission. Mileage was 15/19mpg with Amsoil Syn motor oil. The 06 was great I was getting 17/22 mpg with Amsoil also. The engines both had great torque and rode pretty good. The Duramax hands downis the quietest. Now comes the bad news because of the price of diesel fuel $3.11 gallon in the Northeast. I just sold the 06.

According to the Lutz at GM in the next few years the gas mileage on gasoline trucks will increase to where the diesels are. So don't pay the extra money $5-7K for a diesel engine if you don't haul all the time. The Ram (gasoline) is sharp but is a pig on gas.

Got to have the Cummins...no other diesel comes close in a personal truck....I pull this beast with an 06 2500 Mega Cab...get 19-20 mpg normal highway and 12 mpg towing an 11,500 lb toy hauler (12.4 with the SEUC onboard)....pulls like a dream all day long.

RedDevil,

I'm with you, Cummins is the only way to go.  I have had two Powerstrokes and they were good trucks, but they would not run with the Cummins.

I have a similar rig, except my truck is a Quad-Cab instead of the Mega-Cab.  I pull a 37ft KZ New Vision Sportster - it grosses at about 14K.

Question:  With the short bed Mega-Cab, do you have any problems turning or backing with the nose of the trailer so close to the back of your truck cab?  I will trade trucks next fall and would like to have the Mega-Cab, but am a little worried about the short bed.  I will probably get a 3500 Cab-Chassis and put a Western Hauler type bed on it.

LRebel,
I had a "slider" receiver put in the bed of the truck.  When I get to the camp site, or getting ready to leave, I'll move it into the manuevering mode, which slides the receiver about 12" to the back of the truck or just slightly behind the rear axle...then when I get out of a potential real tight turning situation, I'll slide the receiver back into the towing mode.  Even with the receiver in the towing mode, I can make about a 75-80 degree turn, but in the manuevering mode, I can do 90 degree turns with no problem if necessary.  The new 08's come standard with the exhaust brakes now, wish I had that.  It's about $1500 to upgrade mine.
