I bought a Jeep SRT-8 in 2007. Paid dealer cost for it - a long story, but I got a firm quote with one of the internet buying services. I'd been to another dealer & looked at one, and they would deal on anything on the lot except the SRT I was looking at.
When I showed up at the dealer to look at the Jeep, they were pissed. Didn't want to sell the thing to me at that price.
They were so angry it motivated me to buy the thing waaay more than I needed it. The 420hp is nice but as Jeeps go, it ain't practical. Sure can pass anything on the road (except a gas station!)
So I've wondered over the last six months or so, how would these dealers act now? Would they hold firm on SRT pricing? I've gotta believe that the days of 10K over sticker are toast.
I saw production is beginning on the new Camaro today. That's a hopeful sign, plus they've sold 14k of them in pre-orders. My first car was a 68 Camaro, red & black. I like that they went First Generation on the retro Camaro, although I wish it looked more like the 67-68 cars than the 69. Can't wait to see one in person.....
Anyone know if there are plans for hi-po Camaros (eg, SS/RS/Z-28) a-la the SRTs over at Dodge / Jeep ?
