I was thinking about this 6-speed discussion on the way back from Maggie Valley.  After doing 75-85 mph (~3,500 rpm) most of the way back, I now tend to agree the bike would've been happier given another gear and no doubt would've returned better fuel mileage.  The two things that queer the deal for me are:  1.), I'm not typically running the bike at those speeds (basically was just trying to make time) and 2.), wouldn't want to loose the hydraulic clutch in the process.

Now, for you Tony, if you're out running the motorways all the time, I can see where the 6-speed might be more important to you than the hydraulic clutch.  Like any of these things, it all boils down to personal choice and preferences.

Baker Transmissions has confirmed that there dds 6 speed kit will fit with the hydralic clutch and no changes to exhaust system, it does not stick out beyond the length (depth) of the original transmission http://www.bakerdrivetrain.com/

Now that's what I call a fast response. Thanks, Freddie. [smiley=bigok.gif]

Hey, yeah.  Thanks, Freddie.  I was on Baker's site when you were posting the link, but I still haven't run across anything showing a hydraulic application.  Could you possibly post a more direct link?

There is no info on the internet about the application. You need to call there technical support phone number. They are very helpful.

Ah, good.  Thanks for the clarification.  It's good to know there's something out there, though.  I was not aware of that, so thanks!
