Unless there is a new release The screaming eagle catalog says that it won't work with a Hydrolic clutch.  The SEEG2 has that.  Unles you are going to remove and change your clutch.

To answer your question.. no..I like the clutch I have.

are you doing a gear swap or buying a complete second trans? having never had a hydraulic cluth i'd give it up for an overdrive 6th gear but an extra 2k on top of the base price for the bike would be tough for me to get past

I'm having the 6 speed gear set installed on my 04 SEEG.  Supposed to take deliever late this week or early next.  I will let you know how it turns out.  It wasent cheap, $1995 less 10%, $325 to install, but it will be covered by the extended warrentary.

Six speeds are over rated especially when you are talking about touring models.  I have a six speed on my ironhorse chopper that I have to say a six speed helps tremendously on that style of bike because of the vibration.  The down side is that you have to be running about 75 mph before it does any good or you will start to lug the motor which is worse on it than running at a higher rpm.  You also will find yourself constantly shifting form 5th to 6th and back to 5th.  I think you would start to get a lot of pinging also.   I think that these bikes run perfect with the gearing they have as long as you don't run 90 mph eveywhere you go which at that point the six speed would help.  This is just my experiences with them for whatever thats worth.

Even if you can install the 6-speed with the hydraulic clutch (valle and roadrunner, you must know something the rest of us don't [smiley=nixweiss.gif]), I would have to agree with bighd on this one.  You've got to be running in excess of 70 mph to get the rpm's over 3 grand on these bikes.  That is not an excessive rpm.  Plus, the torque peak is actually higher on these bikes (with the stock cam, at least) than it is on a TC88 at around 4,000 rpm.  So by pulling a sixth gear and dropping the engine speed by 500 rpm at highway speeds, you'll be putting yourself farther away from the engine's sweet spot which will result in less responsiveness (and downshifting) when accelerating.  While you might get some increased fuel mileage with the 6-speed, it seems it would take lifetime of riding to pay back, wouldn't it?

Of course, if going to the 6-speed really does mean losing the fabulous hydraulic clutch, then that alone would not be worth the conversion to me.

The question here is not really is a 6-speed better, but GEARING,. If you install  a Baker six speed, you can keep the hydraulic clutch. They also have a 1-1 final ratio which requires a change of the primary gearing...but works great. Also, IMO, the best medicine is to change the primary  gearing to 24/37 and go ahead with the overdrive. 3-5% more torque and approx. 3050 rpm at 75 mph. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Spoke to the dealer today, you can keep the clutch, but they need to fabracaite (sp) a spacer.  The Gear set sits to far into the case.  Will keep you all updated.

I don't know but maybe I'm stupid, why in the world would you want 6 gears?
With the torque on a stone stock 103" (100 ft lb.) you could pull tree stumps out, now dicing that torque into 6 pieces I don't understand why!!!
Anybody have a 4 speed that will fit my SEEG I'll buy it!!!
I don't know about anybody elses scooter but I can start from a dead stop in 3rd gear (try it you have enuff torque) and at 100 mph I'm at 4000 on the tach, what are you guys looking for in a touring bike?
Please enlighten me I'm missin sumthin [smiley=oops.gif]
Or is this one of those more is better things? [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Please let me take a stab at this and offer up my personal opnion.......or, why I would want one (if I were keeping my bike).  You have a few iron butts here.......those of us that often put 800 or more miles a day on the bike, when traveling to a specified destination.  On the long hauls, when you're riding ten to twelve hours in the saddle at 80 miles an hour another gear would just make it a little easier on the motor.  That's about the only time I'd use it, but it would make it worth it to me.  JMHO
