I really want to ride one of these but I am also scared to ride one. I am afraid I will like
the power and handling and the calm windless cockpit so much that I will think I will
have to buy one.

I really like a bike with lots of power and handling that inspires confidence in the twisties
as that's where I ride mostly.

All that is well and good but my wife says only one bike at a time and the banana is staying
in the garage.

Such a dilemma.

You would be making an apples to bananas comparison!

Last summer the local BMW Dealer here in Sacramento more less guaranteed me if i rode one of his R1200 for a full weekend i would convert from Harley to the Beamer.. Ok, i said you're on and we did some paper work and traded bikes for a weekend. After riding the R1200 for the full week end i came real close to trading or buying a Beamer,, I absolutely loved that bike, BUT I cant count the number of times a cager would switch lanes into my lane, it happens a lot,, and for the simple reason - loud pipes saves life's, which i learned to be a true fact. And the big deal breaker for me was when i got back on my Harley and felt all the vibes and swift action of man handling that big machine, made me realize this is reason i love my Harley. My Harley is simply more fun to ride, never a dull moment. The Beamer is nice but boring,, there was times i felt like dozing off,, im dead serious,,the bike is to quite, to smooth...I figured i'd kill myself on that thing. So today i still have my Harley and love every MAN inch of it..    :2vrolijk_21:

I think you are right on the comparison. Two very different bikes.

Well a friend has a 3 year old 1200 LT  Nice bike fully loaded 12K on the clock
and he wants a 1600 LT, the dealers are hoping the pre-ordered guys don't show
up, they are getting $32 to $35 for these bikes $3 to $5K over...

Now they are nice, and well made, but I'd wait two to three years
because many of them are ridden less than HD bikes,

The kicker?  They offered him $12K for his 3 year old bike that was $27K new

If I am spending $35K I'm going CVO...

It doesn't matter to me that the BMW has some exceptional HP
and I'm a HP junkie, I prefer the ride of my HD bike...
