Looking for help on seats.
« on: February 02, 2015, 06:37:08 AM »

Looking for a seat for the CVO King. I had a Mustang on my VTX that was nice, and I was comfortable on my Heritage, but I want something with a much lower profile on this more aggressive looking bike. The stock seat looks good and isn't uncomfortable, but I want to move back a little bit and I'd like to preserve the stock seat. I'd rather spend some $ now on a good seat and have the original around in the future, instead of replacing the stocker when I wear it out and being without the original equipment. Corbin and C&C look similar to each other, but the Corbin seems like it fits around the tank better. Recommendations.

I had a Danny Grey on my 09 CVO road glide a nice seat, looked real good and pretty comfortable.  I still have a mustang on my Fatboy, it to is comfortable just did not look as good as the Danny Grey.

I had a corbin solo on my 12 CVO Road glide, looked the best, an a little more comfortable than the other two.  I have a corbin solo on my 15 CVO road Glide.

On my 13 CVO Road King I have the stock seat with gel added and driver back rest added.  Looks good, almost as comfortable as the others.

For a long day, 600 plus mile the corbin is my choice, even with it being as hard as a rock.  The modified stock on the CVO King, is good and I have done 600 miles in a day on it.  I have done 600 on the mustang, and was worn out.  I have done 600 on the Grey a bit better than the mustang but not as good as corbin.

Thanks Dave. It sounds like you've been at least satisfied with all of yours.

It really depends on if you ride your bike or not. Someone that ride less than 5,000 miles in a year will probably not appreciate the differences in seats from a comfort standpoint.

But if you ride 10,000 miles a year or more spend them meh for a good seat. Personally I like Corbin, fits me well and I like how it's made. Their customer service is real poor but the seat is worth it.

C&C by far the best bang for the buck. I hate Corbin seats like sitting on a brick.

I have had Corbins on the last 6 bikes and have always loved them.  They may seem hard but they really work well and at the end of the day I have always felt pretty good after riding the Cordin seat.  My 2014 SGSE is the first bike that I felt I could live with the ride of the stock seat.  On all my other bike my butt would hurt after 30-45 minutes and I could not take much over 2hours.  On the Corbins I have logged many a 400 mile day without any problem, even a few 650+.

I changed from stock to Corbin and have been very happy with the results.

I bought a custom Le Pera seat a few years ago and it made a huge difference in comfort on the long rides for both the me and the wife. It was spendy but it's holding up great. It's 100 % leather.

Puma, I've had a couple of Corbin seats over the years and put many miles on both of them.  I was pleased with not only the fit and finish mile after mile but also the feel on the buttocks after 500-700 mile days.  Very comfortable but VERY pricey (as most things that last are).
Instead of the Corbin/Mustang route this last time, I utilized the loaner seat program most HD dealers have.  You can try out different seats before you spend the money.  I ended up really liking the Sundowner for my '12 SESG.  My wife has been very pleased with the passenger part of that saddle, too, with no sore butt complaints even after a couple of 550 mile back-to-back days. Local dealer made me a great deal on it and I've put about 25,000 miles on the Sundowner with no buyer remorse what-so-ever.  The stock seat from my SESG was put in a box and stored in the basement not to be returned to service since.
Something to consider.... ;D

If you like your current seat you may wish to consider:

http://www.meancitycycles.com/

jswerve and others have used them and have had excellent results, you keep your look and leather but improve on the "feel" inside the seat.

I called them about making some revisions to my '13 stock seat. Mean City Cycles cannot re-work a stock CVO seat, but can just about any other.

Are there any other options other than Corbin for heated solo seat?

Fully agree.  I average 23,000 miles a year, so thats why Corbin is my fist choice.  Rode 1530 on the way home from Sturgis last year in 36 hours.

Plan to ride out in 36 to 40 hours this year.  My wife rides her bike with me on trips like this.

My Corbin has 55K or more on it.  When I put it on my 15 SERG this year, I had a few people say it was a nice new seat.  Had 47K on it at the time.
