it has nothing to do with the tuning. I'm getting an average of 34 mpg if i keep it 70 or under. the guys i ride with, one has a metric bike and the other has overdrive. the other Harley i ride with turns about 5-600 rpm less than me at the same speed. that's where the mileage difference is. the difference is i can run away from any of them.. dont get me wrong, im not complaining, that's better than the stock 103 ever got. just looking to maybe extend the riding time a little bit between fuel stops.
I take it by now (5k miles) that you have a "complete tune"?
You didn't say, but it sounds like the other HD that you ride with has a 6sp with a 6 gallon tank (and overall taller gearing as well)?
34 mpg is not too bad considering you can run away from them anytime...And that is "more than your 103 ever got"
Check your mileage a few tanks when you are riding by yourself, not with your Buds, and see if that makes any difference? Ride your own ride, keep your bike in its sweet spot...
Not really a comparison, my 117 consistently gets 35-38 around town or playing on the back roads, 40+ on the Interstate at 80+, all 2-up and loaded. (which is more than others with similar Builds have reported)
