Vertical Inline Oil Cooler
« on: March 01, 2015, 11:40:49 PM »

This is my solution for oil cooling on my dual purpose (Street and Class MPG-1650 Land Speed Bike) Dyna Glide. Its a Jagg 10 row oil cooler with -6 AN fittings (P/N 3140), on a soft tail vertical inline bracket (out of production, call Jagg special order), plumbed with Earls fittings and hose, with the Jagg P/N 4600 oil filter adapter, this combined with a K&N P/N KN-173B oil filter adds about a pint to the total oil capacity.
Why this arrangement?  If I drop the bike it wont get damaged, it runs in clean air, more aerodynamic than hanging off the side of the frame.

That should tame the heat.

Hi Kcbike,

Land speed racing in California is at El Mirage Dry Lake in the Mojave Desert, San Bernardino Country. Here is a link to the Southern California Timing Association (SCTA).
http://www.scta-bni.org/home.html
How I got involved in this is through my coworkers who run at El Mirage and drag me along... Now I want to play too.
The record for a MPG-1650 bike is around 180 MPH!!!, I will be extremely happy if I run 115 MPH, this is on dirt.
I live close to El Mirage only an hour and 15 minutes away, so why not go racing!!! A full season of racing puts about 10 racing miles on the bike, so I cant justify a full on race bike, this is why I'm building a dual purpose bike with some minor goals for myself like seeing how fast you can go on a basic stage one 96 incher. The bike mods are high end suspension and brakes with a basic race prep on the chassis (all new engine mounts, swing arm pivot, wheel bearings, bla-bla on and on) with plenty left to do...
I will continue to document the chassis in the Wheels, Tires, Suspension, Brakes, Section of the forum.

Best Wishes: Mike

i was looking into a similar unit for my daily stop and go in traffic, but waiting to see if the tune helps the temp at all..

what kind of temp drop have you seen so far?  obviously im not expecting a numerical answer.. but is it noticeable? did it help the bike in low speed? stop and go traffic?

Hi Ghost183,

The bike is still under construction and I am documenting the modifications as I complete them on the CVO Forum, but I will report the results good or bad when i get things fired up sometime in the near future (money has a big effect on timeline :nervous:).

Those frame-mounted Jagg units work like a champ.

Here is my vertical oil cooler between the front of the frame.

rode it from Arizona to the Hood River GTG in 2009 and it did the job.

That is VGirl taking a little ride...
