I have that exact seat and it is by far the best mc seat i have ever used by far. My experience with Danny Grey was absolutely world class including them reworking mine after what could have been questionably my fault. I dealt with Sherry who I thought was amazing. At least from my experience with them I have to believe if you send her that pic she will instantly make it right. They went way above and beyond for me for sure. I hope it works out for you. I now have 30000 miles on my DG Airhawk and it has held up great and still the only seat I have ever had (and I have had Corbin, Mustang, couple of HD's) that I can ride for 500 miles in a day without wanting to jump off a bridge.

That Danny Gray seat in photo seems to be one sold by Drag Specialties. The pattern shown is available from Danny Gray but mainly sold as a Drag item. So unless you bought it direct from Danny Gray you can take it back to who-ever you bought it from or call Danny Gray. Either one should warranty it without a problem. Danny Gray is a first class company but will probably want to replace it thru Drag who will work with whoever you bought from. The shop you bought from should handle the trade without question, if not call Danny Gray. Not sure why you wouldn't have done this prior to posting? ANY company can have a mistake, seems to me first thing would be to get the mistake taken care of, and if it went as smoothly as it should in this instance the posting should be to tell everyone what a good experience you had instead of telling everyone your problem without even asking about a solution. Sounds to me like you were looking for a way to slam someone. I would much rather have heard, good or bad how it went.

Don, since I originated this post humbly asking for opinions, I felt it was only fair to narrate the story as it unfolds. That's why I included photos so you could judge for yourself. If I was bashing them, I wouldn't have included what I received in my photos and let you decide what you think.

I have contacted Revzilla and they have offered to do an immediate replacement. I will also document every event in the story so you and other readers can see how this ends.

The benefit of these forums is so that we can all learn from each other and benefit from the experience. I have nothing personal against anyone at DG. This will be a great opportunity for their customer service to shine!

You don't have to explain yourself on here. You bought a seat that wasn't cheap and it wasn't made well. You showed the seat and continue to update us on what is being done. Nothing wrong with that.

Thanks for showing pictures for all to see, with decent Quality control in a company this should not
have made it out the door.

We're talking around 3 weeks since the "problem" with this expensive seat surfaced.  I'm waiting and (maybe some others are too), to understand the resolution.

Given the cost and the "bad press",  I would have thought the manufactorer would have and should have responded by now. :-\

I don't care who Danny Gray makes the seat for their quality should be consistent unless it is a second and Revzilla is selling as first quality.  Danny Gray may not be the culprit here.

Guys,

I apologize for the delay in an update. Spring break stole 10 days from me and I have been really busy riding my CVO in this nice weather.

Revzilla gladly accepted my return and credited my AMEX for 100% of the charges. They offered to send out a replacement but we opted to buy the LaPera seat from them instead. The reasoning for this change was because we did not like how the Danny Gray AirHawk felt. (Regardless of the stitching issues). When uninflated it was hard as a rock and when inflated it definitely created pressure points. We were not at all pleased with how it operated. It is nothing like the AirHawk seat cover that I bought a couple of years ago. I am a fan of AirHawk but integrated into the seat is not nearly the same thing.

The LaPera was impeccable in it's QA and is a very comfortable seat. It came assembled, unlike the 3 pieces of the Danny Gray, and it bolted right up in 15 seconds. I like the quick release of the rider's backrest and it's multi-point setting for vertical and horizontal adjustment. The only place I could see where they might improve would be to offer a leather seat version.

I will likely buy the Corbin seat also and see if I like it best. (I can always put the extra seat on my '13 CVO RK).

I'm going to sound like a broken record here as I've posted this a few times over the past couple of years but....Hogster, have you tried going the HD route and using the demo seat process through your dealer?  They have numerous seat options for you to put on your bike and ride for a bit before buying.  I did that two years ago and ended up purchasing the Sundowner seat for my '12 SESG.  Have not looked back since putting around 20K on it (and the stock seat hasn't seen the light of day since the replacement either).  It's comfortable, my wife loves the seat and it didn't break the bank.  I've put thousands of miles on a Corbin (two different HD's) and love those saddles.  However, I didn't want to take the chance of buying a $1,000 seat and the wife not liking it.  The HD demo route was a great option and may be something you want to consider before spending the $$$$ on the Corbin..... :nixweiss:

One more thing....as for posting pics of that $1,000 seat with what I would call deal busting mistakes, glad you did.  If you just did that, I would think this was turning into a complaint thread.  Now that you've posted the follow-up/resolution (thanks for that...I was wonderin' what happened) it was all part of the normal process.  Trust me, if I had just spent $1,000 or more on a seat that was top-o-da-line and it came in that way, I would'a been a wee bit upset as well.  I'm sure most of us here on the site would be upset with type of quality issue, too.  HD paint issues anyone..... ::)

I totally agree with the Corbin return policy. I asked them what their return policy was since it cannot be found on their site and below is our email conversations about this topic.

I will NOT be buying a Corbin seat!

CORBIN'S REPLY TO MY EMAIL:

Our products are custom made for you, therefore once an order has gone to production, the order cannot be modified or cancelled.Any canceled order will be subject to a 20 % cancelation fee
Your credit card will be charged before the order is sent to production. All seats are built to order and are non-refundable.

MY REPLY:

Christopher,

Thanks for your reply. I am surprised by your return policy. I can't see how you could actually call making a seat that would fit over 1,000,000 other motorcycles a custom seat! If I asked for a seat with my social security number stitched into the leather, that would be a one of a kind custom seat.

I would think that any seat that would be available in such a wide market hardly qualifies as custom.

The reason I was asking is because I would want to be sure that any seat I would be willing to spend over $1000 on would actually meet my needs. Since your seats are not available at a local dealer, so I could sit on it and evaluate compatability before making a purchase, I was hoping to know that if I found the seat to not meet my needs, I would be able to return it. (Within a reasonable amount of time. Maybe 14 days?).

I am a previous owner of your seats and was very pleased. But since you do not offer returns under any circumstances other that warranty failure,  I will not be purchasing your product.

If you are so confident that your seats are superior and that I would be pleased with my purchase,  it would make sense that you would not hesitate to offer a brief trial period.

Each business has the right to make decisions on how they go to market and I respect that. I just thought you should hear, from an actual consumer, how you are perceived in the marketplace.

All the best!

Jeff Ludy

HIS REPLY TO ME:

The policys i follow are set by the CEO of Corbin. We make fantastic seats. But i am not able to change the policys/procedures. If you have had a Corbin in the past you should know that the saddles are built for the long ride. If you have any other ?'s on our seats, feel free to contact any of out techs at 800-223-4332. We are open 7 days a week and are here to answer any ?'s
