Ya know, I really like the look of that bike, mainly cause I like the look of an Ultra, it's just classic styling.  But having seen one nearly like mine with the King Tourpak on it......I think I'm gonna stick with the Leather Pak, it's looks......................sporty'r....I guess........

. . . .  The only reservation I have is that is his design.  I'm sure he enjoys knowing his scoot is one of a kind.

Good thing it’s the only one! If that was a factory production design I’d be riding something else!

I gotta agree with FR8. I chose the SEUC, “one of 4,000 some”, because of what the MoCo/CVO did. Hell, I did it twice (’06 & ’07) - stroker, custom paint, & is sporty lookin’ but doesn’t look like a mirror image of a “traditional” ultra. It has the general flavor – tour pak, bags, radio, loaded with x-tra goodies with a twist. Then ya go and turn it back into a regular ‘ole ultra. Don't get me wrong. I love Ultra's (that's why I'm riding my third) Just my opinion and yes I know what it smells like. But hey! That’s me . . .  Oh yeah, BTW, where’s the white walls like the blue '07?

 “one of 4,000 some”,

Might wanna click the registry link under my sig, they built about 7500 of the SEUC in 2006........seems the Black/Green is the rare one in the breed.

I guess we are in the minority.  I picked the SEUC BECAUSE OF the leather pack.  I like the looks of the conversion back to "normal" from the SE but it looks just like a SE wanna-be for some reason.

I'll just watch for a cheap leather take off on e-bay!   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Same here, the leather pak was what caught my eye, plus all the other goodies. And we still like it, especially after the new painted parts were all done!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Same here, buddy...really like the look the leather TP gives the bike...more sculpted than just a big a$$ed box sitting back there.  No offense to those with beautifully painted Kings.... ;) :P  I think Willie done good when he thought that one up...

No offense to any of you, but I looked at the leather T-P as another of Willy's "form (style) over function" designs.  Sure, it's different so it stands out from a styling perspective, but as far as the real purpose of the T-P is concerned, it is less functional than the part it replaced.  This is a common theme with H-D; rather than spend time and effort on making true functional improvements, just add a little bling to the 20 year old design and call it a day. That's why we have chrome covers over 1980 design forks, for instance.

Jerry, You are EXACTLY right.  The designs are old.  But so am I  :-? and so are my tastes.  I like the way the SEUC looks. 8-)  It suits me, and thats what I care about.  I don't get to tour as much as I like, but when I do I have to be careful on what I take.  My better half could fill 3 packs.

The difference in size on those packs will not change my life.  90% of my rides are within 100 miles of home.

So from my standpoint....THANKS WILLIE for the leather.

Leather tour paks are nothing new for the MOCO. They were introduced in 2000 for the Road King as well as most Softails. If a leather tour pak determines what you purchase, it would have been easy to save $14K and go with a Heritage Softail. It's not that I have such a dislike for the leather tour pak, it's more that I'd appreciate something a little more functional, a little higher quality (I do despise the loose fitting nauga covering) and definitively I want to do away with the "Goldwing" style antenna display across the rear. When my SEUC is finished, I intend for it to project a clean, tasteful and throughout appearance typical of a factory performance motorcycle - not a tricked out "geezer glide" parade bike. [smiley=soapbox.gif]
By the way, I told Willie G. personally how I felt about the leather tour pak when I met him last year. I said I felt it was the "weak link" in an otherwise excellent machine. He took the criticism well and admitted it even had mixed reviews within the MOCO.
One thing about our group of CVO owners is the fact we have a wide variety of opinions and tastes. It sure make life a lot more interesting that way doesn't it?

I was a little reluctant of getting an Ultra with the leather tour pak, I loved my other Ultra and it's looks, but I wanted the CVO and that monster 110 ci engine, hydraulic clutch, etc, etc, etc, so I accepted the fact that it had the leather tour pak.  Now that I have it, I love it!!!!! ;)  I like the looks of it, and to me, it's what definitely separates the CVO Ultra from the other Ultras.  Yes, it's also more sporty looking because of the lack of the bag rails and "bumpers" and fender lights on the fenders, but the tour pak sets it aside from the others.  I think it's a good mix, to make the CVO, what it is, different from the rest of the line.  JMHO, but I have no desire to put another tour pak on it.   If momma wants to pack alot when we go on an extended trip, that's what the 36 ft 5th wheel toyhauler is for.  ::)  That way the saddle bags and tour pak are for the important things, like rain gear, air compressor, tool kit, etc, etc....

cheers,  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
