Mobil 1 V-Twin in engine and primary, Mobil 1 75W-90 gear oil in tranny.  Change all three holes every 5K cause it is fun!

Oil change frequency has more to do with the type of driving / riding than it does with exact mileage.  Folks who ride short distances, stop and go traffic, cold weather, etc. should change more often than someone who puts mostly highway miles on their vehicle (this applies to your car/truck as well as your bike).  A top quality synthetic like Amsoil or Mobil 1 will easily exceed the recommended 5k change interval, but most of us still change at the recommended intervals anyway.  In my case, I also change the fluids when I put the bike away for the winter, even if I changed it just a short time before.  Combustion byproducts along with moisture create acids in the oil, and to be safe I change it before storage.

I change engine, tranny & primary every 5k.

In the past I've used Amsoil in the motor and Redline in tranny & primary.

Now I go with redline for all three.

Just a curious question....
I notice most everyone is using Amsoil or Mobil 1 for the motor and Redline for the primary & tranny.

How come nobody runs the Redline engine oil [smiley=confused5.gif]

Take care,

I also run RL in all 3 holes (3 different products).  I average about 6,000 miles a year so the oil and filter gets changed twice and the tranny and primary once a year.

I like racing products. Redline is racing chit. S&S uses Mobil 1 V twin exclusively. I'm sure there's advertising $ in that, but they're still gonna use good stuff in their new motors. I usually don't have to worry about trans or primary oil on the road. If I need engine oil or want to change it, the Mobil 1 V Twin is easier to find. The top 3 are all supposed to be really good. Nobody really knows which engine oil is better. As long as you don't find if one is worse. Now I guess I'll see how the M1V2 works with this BBQ 110" engine. I'm hoping it helps keep the temp down. ;) Hoist!  8-)
