Help me identify a bike please.
« on: May 08, 2015, 03:53:35 PM »

Is this a CVO?  It's a 2004 with 23,000 miles.  I can't find anything on the net that looks like it.  Someone is trying to sell it to me.  It has CVO gauges, Chrome controls, etc.  Don't know much else other than pictures right now.  Not too up on the early years.  If it is a CVO what approx. value would you put on it?

It does not appear to be a CVO.  Certainly is not a CVO paint scheme.  See here:  Harley CVO History.

Yeah I know the paint is wrong but the wheels look correct?  Could be a standard dressed up like a CVO?  Someone spent a lot of money on it.

Other than paint is there any for sure tell tale signs it's a CVO?  VIN, Title etc etc

Get the VIN and call the dealership and ask them to run the VIN and tell you what it is.

I believe that may be one of those "limited edition" paint schemes that was available for a few years.  They never came on the bike, it was a P&A item and that's why you rarely see them.  The wheels on the two CVOs in 04 were chrome.  Those wheels look like the wheels that were on the standard Street Glide for a few years, from what I can see.

It also looks to be an EZ-Brake brake pedal and shifter arms.

It is a good looking bike though.

By the way, your insurance company can run that VIN and tell you what it is, also.

looks like to me just a set of custom tins installed with lots of bling.

also the motor would have been a "103" if it was a CVO and a side cover stating that.

Its not a cvo but definitely looks like a Harley custom paint set. They are not cheap. Typical paint set like that is a $5k upgrade.

Yes, the VIN will tell you what it was when it left the factory.  A 2004 SEEG would have a VIN like this:     1 H D 1 PJ E xxxxxxxxxx.  The model code PJ was for the FLHTCSE, and the engine code E was for the 1690 (103) engine.

The paint is definitely wrong, the front fender didn't come with the chrome tip, The fuel tank doesn't look right, and I can't see the wheels well enough in that picture to be able to say what they are.  Search for some detailed photo's of a 2004 SEEG and compare to the actual bike.

Thanks guy's!  The VIN is 1HD1DDXXXXXXXXXX

I noticed the front fender too.  I like the bike and the gentlemen passed away so his wife is trying to sell it.  She wants $14,500 which ain't gona happen but I buy and sell motorcycles at my dealership so they are approaching me.  I'm trying not to hurt anyone's feelings.  I think the bike might bring $10,000 retail.

I also have no idea on cam chain tensioners etc.  At 23,000 miles it's time if they haven't been done.

Check the book value for your area, but if that is an Electraglide Classic the NADA retail in my area is less than $8K.  Maybe someone would pay an extra couple grand for the add-ons, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Look for tell-tell signs: wrong air cleaner, flat black inner fairing (there's never been a CVO that was release with a flat black inner fairing), wrong wheels, etc.

Definitely something someone put together, not a CVO. She is asking way too much, maybe bike will bring $8,000 to $9,000 if your lucky.   She may be going on what he had in it, not true market value. Sometimes its hard to be the bearer of bad news.  Good luck.

Wrong heads for a stock 103 from 2004, wrong wheels for any CVO, obviously not a CVO paint set.  Wrong covers on derby, air cleaner or cam.  Nothing about this bike even suggest CVO.  If it's got a CVO VIN then the only thing on the bike correct may be the frame :huepfenlol2: .

JCZ got it right.  It's basically a stock Electra Glide with some chrome add-ons, may or may not have some engine work, and a limited edition set of skins from the P/A catalog.  This color and a teal based color were offered.
