So what is supposedly wrong with it?  Broken?  Assuming no abuse, no it isn't normal or right.  If the bike is out of warranty, then yes the cost would be on you.

If it's not obviously broken I don't understand, do they wear out?  :nixweiss:

Not sure how one would wear out the jiffy stand. It's a steel post with a spring?

Not sure what could be wrong with it unless it is just sloppy. I know the one on my 06 was great and I had 71,000 miles on it. The one on this 09 with 22,000 miles is shaky at best. I'm very interested in what they say is wrong. I was going to put a new spring on mine and see if it tightened it up.

In 2012, I had my Bike Dyno tuned by a crappy HD dealer.  After the tech test rode it, he thought he had the jiffy stand down all the way but in reality it was only about 75% down.  He crawled off the bike and it fell over.  Needless to say, it also bent the crap out of my jiffy stand.  They put a new jiffy stand on and I took the bike to a better tuner.  Robin at Gails HD did a fantastic job tuning the bike correctly and didn't drop it.

"no good" begs for an explanation.  Is it just the spring or is the weld on the jiffy stand bracket cracked/broken or..........did they put the wrong jiffy stand on your bike (which was common on the 04 SEEG)

?  If it's the spring....your dime.  If it's the jiffy stand itself then I'd ask the dealership to contact the MoCo and ask them to replace it under good faith customer service.

The jiffy stand is not a normal wear and tear item and if there's no obvious abuse then the MoCo should stand behind it even though you're out of warranty.

Call CS at HD.  When I had mushy brakes when the bike was quite new, they told me it was not covered.  I called CS at HD and the guy I spoke with was so nice.  He said as far as he knew, it was not a maintenance issue since the bike was newer.  Got my details and told me he would call my Dealer to get it straight.  Service guys were not too happy I went over their heads.  Like I care...

The Jiffy stand is of the same basic design for many years, and has been/is the best side stand in the industry. The spring may have been cheapened (made overseas), but the rest nearly impossible to wear out. Whomever from the dealer told you that is sadly mistaken.
