I have the full length version on my 11.5 CUSE. I believe the Left and right are different because compression is on one side and rebound is on the other. I forget exactly which is which but the left shock is the adjustable one that you can set preload on base upon the weight of passengers and cargo. I spend most of the time on the bike 2-up without a lot of cargo and have the shocks turned up about 15 "clicks" when riding that way. When we take off for a trip I add a few clicks to compensate for the gear we bring, usually up to 18 for the trip an then back down after we arrive at our destination and the extra stuff comes off the bike. If I'm solo I just back the preload down a little depending on whether the tourpak and bags are full or not.
I find the shocks do a much better job than the air shocks that were on the bike. Adjustment is easy - no need to remove the saddle bag to turn the knob, just open the saddle bag lid (as long as your hand fits in the space available). You can definitely feel the difference when you change settings. Overall I like the performance of the shocks especially when you consider the price point.
That being said, once they wear out I'm leaning strongly toward a set of Ohlins with the remote reservoir -- I just keep saving my change because they are $$$$$
