In between all the rain we have had this summer in OHIO, I have been riding my a$$ off. At least I think I have been anyway! It was a much bigger learning curve with this bike than it was with the last one (2009 FXD Superglide). Learning what noises were normal, what ones I should be paying attention to, etc. I developed a loud and annoying tick early in (3000 miles) and replaced the stock lifters to GMR lifters, problem solved. Had to learn that 6th gear was damned near useless on this bike for average speed riding. But once I realized that, all those crazy annoying noises and clattering sounds .. went away.. I found a better Oil along the way and I continue to swear by it. I took the advice of other riders and tried a different tranny oil (Redline w/Shockproof) and I think I do like it better than the prior. Drained, changed and bled the hydro clutch and that was another night and day fix as well. I know I am somewhat rambling, but I think you get the picture. Learning the nuances of this machine (which I was ready to dump almost immediately after buying it) has, I think, maybe brought me "closer" to it. .LOL I am not currently in as much of a hurry to get rid of it anymore...maybe once I am no longer upside down on it.. I might get itchy again.. LOL BUT I digress... when I bought this bike it had 2048 miles on it. Last friday was the anniversary date in fact. It now has 15,245 miles on it and I think, as I said, it might be growing on me...
Man I really need to get back on my meds!! LOL
Having a good time riding...See you on the road!
