Arkansas: slowest road construction crews on the PLANET! I swear they've been working on the same stretches of some of our roads now for 20+ years. And the appalling thing is they will lay the most beautiful asphalt down and within a few months, the road surface is wavy and humpy.
We have a saying here that each time they start a new major project, it's either called a "career project" or "another retirement project in the making".
That and ridiculously low speed limits, stop lights and turn lights in the most unbelievable locations, and no dedicated right turn lanes at lights. It's like the folks at the highway/planning dept don't ever drive a vehicle themselves. Just amazing. But we know what they're trying to do...they're dumming down the highways because people no longer know how to drive any more in this state.
Oh and did I mention the most inconsiderate drivers also? You come up to a 4-way stop and everyone just sits and sits and sits. Finally someone will wave someone else thru. But then those same people will pull right out in front of you in a 55mph zone, then take the better part of a half mile or more to get up to about 45, then they turn off on some other road (very slowly turn off). They were in such a hurry to pull out in front of you that they make you slam on your brakes...then they take their time only to turn off a short distance from there. And then you look behind you and realize that other than the 2 guys behind you this nimrod has also slowed down, there was nobody else behind you as far as the eye could see!
Well...thanks for the therapy...I feel better now!
